You can simplify the code a lot by using turbo frames and a to submit the chosen sort_by option. Then all your Stimulus controller needs to do is submit the form when the value changes. Almost no custom JS required

I think you can just use turbo-frame for this, and then in stimulus just do .refresh() on that frame-element. Something like that :)
