Those rules doesn't work during war. Many were found wearing sacred threads and beads during Kargil war, infact the Muslims and Hindus were found wearing sacred seeds inchanted with Buddhist mantra. I'm from Ladakh and i have heard stories from many veteran soldeirs who participated in 1961,74 and 99. Many stories regarding such sacred wearables are very famously told by veterans.
