I have been asked the meaning to this song many times, so I wanted to address it. When I wrote this song... I imagined a scene/story. In my mind it was a car crash where the woman was dying, and the man survived. She was passing on as he held her. The first verse is the guy singing to her (his love.) He was singing to her at the crash site That’s why his lyrics are What’s going on? The look in your eyes tells me there’s something wrong. That’s painting the picture of her not being responsive, and him realizing it. He is so devastated he’s even willing to “sell his soul for her to pull through.” The woman’s part. She’s in spirit form not realizing she’s dead, as she’s walking towards the crowd that is gathered around her body. Which is why she says “I can feel the crowd thinking oh my god,” and “I can’t feel anything.” She is realizing she is passing on / passed on. “I’ve been dancing with your ghost” in the chorus, is about them refusing to let each other go. It’s a story of eternal love. Oscar

He had to be put away after he became violent and tgough my head knows that I had no choice, my heart is wounded and bleeding because he has gone away from me forever. I lost my mama 8yrs ago to lung cancer, she was coughing n spitting out blood n I kept telling her to look at me n 30mins later she died in my arms, I crawled in bed with her at the hospital n told her It's ok to just go n be in peace. 5yrs later my daddy died in my arms, I had to start CPR on him till EMS pulled me off. His cancer Dr said he wouldn't give him 6 weeks to live because he had the worst n fastest spreading cancer...... he lived for a week after!!! Sorry to ramble on about this, just letting you know you're really not alone in your sadness n I couldn't imagine losing my husband. My heart goes out to everyone else who has lost a loved one! As I’m listening to this I’m fighting the tears that are proceeding to fall. My brother was murdered in October of 2015. We found him 3 weeks later. This song hits me so hard. His murderers were never prosecuted, therefore it’s impossible for me to find closure. I have a video of him dancing with his daughter less than a year before the murder. Watching now, it’s like she’s dancing with his ghost.

This is such an emotional song for me. Its both dark and beautiful. As I listen to this I think of my BIL who died quickly due to cancer. We watched him pass unable to do anything for him. Cancer ravaged his body beyond repair. Multiple mini strokes paralyzed him within himself. It was heartbreaking to watch. I'm a came across this song on Facebook today, and it really resonated with me. I have been struggling with my grief for 2 years now, and it does not get any easier. I considered him my lifemate. We had our challenges, but we were planning to marry in February of 2021. We took a break, but feelings were still there. He passed away September of 2020. I am still struggling to move on with his absence, and it's an ongoing battle. I am reminded that there is no manual for grief, but that still doesn't make my journey easier. Thank you for this song. This hits different on so many levels. With alot of loss coming and going in this life, this shows how fragile someone is in the wake of the moment for me. Between my brother, close friends, and grandma passing in many different ways over the last 10 years have really been something to deal with. I progressively repress everything and just smoke it away with weed. Hence me dancing with the ghost of addiction because I can't deal with the emotions. Levels man.

I just heard this song for the first time tonight (9/3/2022). I lost my husband of almost 20 years on 8/22/2020 due to neglect at a rehab center/nursing home. As he laid in a medically induced coma due to multiple organ failure, I whispered in his ear to stop fighting, to go be with Jesus, his father and grandmother. I had to go home to get some sleep and tend to our dogs. After being home for about an hour I got a call that things had changed. I headed back to his side but I didn't make it. He left me before I could get there. After two years I am still fighting for him against the facility. I and still "Dancing with (his) Ghost. As I listened to your song for the first time, I thought you had written about my life of the last two years. THANK YOU! The other song that might bring some peace to others is by Disturbed called "Hold on to Memories" God Bless you guys.

Beautiful song 💔💓💔I've been listening to this on repeat we lost our twin baby girls this year on Valentine's day, I was 17 weeks had to deliver them by natural labor. We got to hold them, the nurse took pictures of us with our angels, gave us a memory box to honor them and put baby stuff in. Missing them so much, my heart aches daily, there are no words to really describe the immense amount of pain and heartbreak parents go through grieving the loss of their babies.
