I found that many of Brady's bad throws this season are when there is another receiver open further downfield along the same line. It is almost like his mind tells him at the very last second that someone is open even deeper and it makes the ball sail a bit over the closer receiver. Kind of like he throws it in the middle of both of them. That happened on the pick over the middle to Evans and several other times this year. Still balling though. I have a question on the first pick for Evans. It seemed to me that Brady threw into coverage instead away from coverage. Based on the film you showed, if the ball was thrown to the sideline, dnt you think the pass would be completed, at least not picked? I dont think it would have been picked. There was more space there and the defender was inside at that point and not outside. Also on the Fournette route before end of first half. Was there any chance brady throwing to Gronk? It sure looked on film there was more space for Gronk than Fournette. Great review
@MightyQuinnj3 жыл бұрын
That first pick was hard to watch. Brady just threw it up to Evans who wasn't open. It was the same ball that should have been picked right before the half and would have nullified the Miller touchdown 2 plays later. This is not the Brady I know. That, and there are two philosophies: Bill Walsh taught and wrote in his book that on 3rd and long you want to complete the pass for about half the needed yards and your play maker should get the rest with YAC. He argued that even a failed attempt still gain confidence that you can execute plays, complete passes, and give your team a chance. Bruce Arians teaches that on 3rd and long, you can just launch one up for 30+ yards and not care if it gets picked. Maybe you can draw a flag or catch it. If the pick if, it becomes an arm punt and you were going to punt anyway on an incomplete pass. But when you draw that flag or catch it, it is huge for your team. Very different thoughts, and two of Tom's three INTs in that game against Green Bay came off of that. The go in the book as an INT, but we're really just arm punts.

I think the 3 INTs have more to do with Arians wanting Brady to throw it up to Evans and let him make a play, which is why the INTs almost always come throwing to him. Almost feels like if TB got rid of Evans and just ran a more motion-heavy offense like NE they would have more success. The system would be great 5-10 years ago and it's still good but Brady is 43 now, just won't have the mobility or the endurance to take big hits for the biscuit.
