I'm a Protestant and I believe I'm being led to the Catholic church. Please pray for me. I want to be a part of the Catholic Church. I don't know where to start. I've done years of study and research on this. Of course with my Protestant background I was very anti Catholic. But reading books, studying history, listening to lectures and seminars. Being frustrated with divisiveness within my tradition . I'm very familiar with theological literature both Protestant and Catholic. I'm drawing closer to Rome now. I travel for work , I'm always away from home. I don't know where to start to become catholic. I can't attend RCIA because I stay away working for months at a time. Can anybody give advice?

This priest used to be active in the FSSP parish where I am active. He was transferred a couple of years ago and is now in another state at an FSSP parish. When he was transferred, it was a huge loss to our parish. His sermons were highly edifying. He has occasionally gotten into trouble because he will not compromise the truth. Nearly all Protestants do this, except maybe some Lutherans. I have heard some of the most downright awful, nasty, degrading rhetoric from them essentially slandering and even mocking our Blessed Mother. @@evangelion1962 Hebrews 6: 13For when God made a promise to Abraham, since he had no one greater by whom to swear, he swore by himself, 14saying, “Surely I will bless you and multiply you.” 15And thus Abraham, having patiently waited, obtained the promise. 16For people swear by something greater than themselves, and in all their disputes an oath is final for confirmation. 17So when God desired to show more convincingly to the heirs of the promise the unchangeable character of his purpose, he guaranteed it with an oath, 18so that by two unchangeable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled for refuge might have strong encouragement to hold fast to the hope set before us. 19We have this as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul, a hope that enters into the inner place behind the curtain, 20where Jesus has gone as a forerunner on our behalf, having become a high priest forever after the order of Melchizedek.
@JC-li8kk

@@evangelion1962 Jesus saved me. There were no consistent believers when Jesus walked the earth. Even His own disciples did not believe Jesus was raised from the dead: “Oh foolish ones, slow in heart to believe all that the prophets have said.” And all the people who rejected, hated, & crucified Jesus were saved. The same people you say “Jesus warned” yes they were cut off because of unbelief. But God grafted them back in by mercy for the sake of the promise He made to Abraham. “In your seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed.” Therefore it does not depend on him who wills or him who works but on God who shows mercy & keeps His promise. Romans 11:28 “Concerning the gospel they are enemies for your sake, but concerning election they are beloved for the sake of the fathers. For the gifts and callings of God are IRREVOCABLE.” Salvation is a gift. The gifts of God are irrevocable. “Not by works of righteousness which you have done, but according to His mercy He saved us.” By grace we are saved through faith, and that not of ourselves, it is the gift of God that no man can boast. I’m not sure how to make it any more clear to you: Salvation is a gift. Righteousness is a gift. Eternal life is a gift. The Holy Spirit is a gift. God gives us all these gifts because He promised to do it. God is not a liar. “He who promised is faithful. He will do it.”

@@bcalvert321 through the typical avenues for salvation, yes. However, it is not appropriate for us to say what God can or can not do, furthermore, the fullness of God’s knowledge, judgement, and mercy is not known to us to the extent that we may say no soul can be saved after death. Even the Holy Scriptures tell us that the gentiles who have not the law, are a law unto themselves, with their own conscience bearing witness, both defending and accusing themselves, on that day when all souls are brought before the Judgement Seat of Christ (Romans 2:12-29). Surely, none can be saved without Christ, but we can not ourselves determine who our Lord will choose to save or not. Not even every Christian will be saved, afterall, for many will say Lord, Lord (Matthew 7:22). None of us can be so certain who will be saved and who will be condemned, we all require God’s mercy. Even for the reason that we are told there is but one judge, we should not make hard statements of what can and can’t be done when talking about an act only God has business in making judgements on.

All of that has nothing to do with works saving you and no one in church history other than those of a false religion ever taught that works had anything to do with a person obtaining salvation.

Then why did Christ appoint Peter as the first Pope (Matthew 16:16-19), sent the Apostles out to evangelize all nations, and Baptise, in the name of the Father, Son & Holy Spirit, and in Matthew 28: 18: Then Jesus approached and said to them, “All power in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go, therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Spirit 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age.” And why in John 6 do we see Jesus allowing thousands to depart from him after He tells them: 51 I am the living bread that came down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever; and the bread that I will give is my flesh for the life of the world.” 52 The Jews quarreled among themselves, saying, “How can this man give us his flesh to eat?” 53Jesus said to them, “Amen, amen, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you do not have life within you. 54 Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him on the last day. 55 For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink. 56Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me and I in him. 57 Just as the living Father sent me and I have life because of the Father, so also the one who feeds on me will have life because of me.b 58 This is the bread that came down from heaven. Unlike your ancestors who ate and still died, whoever eats this bread will live forever.” 59 These things he said while teaching in the synagogue in Capernaum. The Words of Eternal Life. 60 Then many of his disciples who were listening said, “This saying is hard; who can accept it?” 61 Since Jesus knew that his disciples were murmuring about this, he said to them, “Does this shock you? 62 What if you were to see the Son of Man ascending to where he was before?* 63 It is the spirit that gives life, while the flesh* is of no avail. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and life. 64 But there are some of you who do not believe.” Jesus knew from the beginning the ones who would not believe and the one who would betray him.c 65 And he said, “For this reason I have told you that no one can come to me unless it is granted him by my Father.” 66 As a result of this, many of his disciples returned to their former way of life and no longer accompanied him. 67 Jesus then said to the Twelve, “Do you also want to leave?” 68 Simon Peter answered him, “Master, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. 69 We have come to believe and are convinced that you are the Holy One of God.” 70 Jesus answered them, “Did I not choose you twelve? Yet is not one of you a devil?” 71He was referring to Judas, son of Simon the Iscariot; it was he who would betray him, one of the Twelve. Then in John 14:26 The Advocate, the holy Spirit that the Father will send in my name-he will teach you everything and remind you of all that I told you." So, if all that was required was the one verse you quote, which is true, you must believe in everything Christ taught to the Apostles AND all The Holy Spirit taught them 'everything' as they then went out into the world and formed The Catholic Church, which, as you see, was founded by Christ on Peter the authorized Head of the Catholic Church, is worldwide and The Holy Spirit taught 'everything'. So, to refuse it, is refusing Christ as He intended to set apart those who merely 'say' they believe from True believers, who have truly accepted 'everything.' I pray this makes sense as Christ told the Samaritan women that there would come a time to worship in Spirit and Truth. This, is, The One, Holy, Roman Catholic & Apostolic Church today. If John 3:16 was the be all end all, then your contradicting Christ Himself, may God forbid! Amen. +

@ODMA-km4dq
@ODMA-km4dq Жыл бұрын
Yes, the church teaches that only God can forgive sin. But Jesus Christ gave authority to the church to forgive sin (albeit it’s not the priest that forgives). Mt 16:19. These apostles have verifiable successes that are ordained to this day. I totally get where you are coming from, I was Protestant for the first 35 years of my life. But once you study their doctrines, you can’t deny. Unfortunately sacred scripture talks about a great deception that causes men to believe lies. Like you, I also subscribed to heresy, I didn’t know any better. You should be angry that you’ve been sold a lie and now believe it. When you persecute the Catholic Church, you are persecuting the Bride of Christ (no the Bride is not the random self declared Christians outside of the church). If you are serious, you need to research their claims yourself. The first thing is to realise that prior to Sacred Scripture being canonised by the Catholic Church (300+yrs after Jesus) their was only Sacred Tradition (oral teachings). John spoke of many things that Jesus did that were not recorded. Those things are known to the Catholic Church in Sacred Tradition. When they put Sacred Scripture into a book, known as the Bible it had an additional 7 books. Luther an excommunicated catholic priest removed 7 books, interestingly those books primarily confined much of the doctrine you deny. Luther actually believed in the communion of Saints and asked Mary to intercede for him. The whole denial of this is only a recent heresy. For 1500 years prior to Luther Christianity was solely catholic. Go to a catholic apologist site and research everything yourself. Once you discover the truth, find a parish and do the RCIA program. Then try and save as many deceived non Catholics as possible. Their souls matter.

@ODMA That's not what Mathew 16:19 means. It actually means the church is to spread the gospel and tell people of the coming of the Kingdom of God. They have no authority to forgive, only to let people know how to do it according to the words of Jesus. It is up to each individual to ask forgiveness directly to Jesus. Not through any mediator.

As a thought experiment for Catholics who think those outside the church can't make it to heaven, I want you to consider this short biography of St. Seraphim, an Orthodox saint who was never in the Catholic church: One day, while chopping wood, Seraphim was attacked by a gang of thieves who beat him mercilessly with the handle of his own axe. He never resisted, and was left for dead. The robbers never found the money they sought, only an icon of the Theotokos (Virgin Mary) in his hut. Seraphim had a hunched back for the rest of his life. However, at the thieves' trial he pleaded to the judge for mercy on their behalf. He spent five months in the monastery, recovering from his injuries and then returned to the wilderness.[1] After this incident Seraphim spent 1,000 successive nights on a rock in continuous prayer with his arms raised to the sky, a feat of asceticism deemed miraculous by the Eastern Orthodox Church, especially considering the pain from his injuries. Do you believe this man is going to hell?

As a Protestant, one who is baptized in the Trinitarian faith, who loves the Lord deeply, who reads his Bible and prays for the good of others and his enemies, who holds strongly to the Word of God, and confesses and repents of his sins in prayer to the Lord Jesus, I am assured and confident of my salvation. The Catholic Church has every right to claim descendency from Peter, but to claim that Protestants who have faith in Jesus Christ are not assured of salvation or to claim that Protestants will not enter heaven, is itself a blasphemy. Romans 10, Ephesians 9, etc all declare that the ONLY way to heaven is through Christ and Christ ALONE. Praying to the saints doesn’t earn salvation, praying to Mary doesn’t earn salvation. ONE LORD ONE FATIH ONE BAPTISM “There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all” (Ephesians 4:4-6) The one baptism (and the only valid baptism), is the baptism of the one faith, the baptism authorized by the one Lord and practiced by the one body, the church of Christ. “For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body” (1 Corinthians 12:13). "Are you born again-the way the Bible understands that concept?" If the Evangelical has not been properly water baptized, he has not been born again "the Bible way," regardless of what he may think.The Born Again Movement traces its origin early in the 19th century.Born Again Movement arrived at our shores in the late 1930’s and gained its popularity in the 70’s and 80’s which is considered the golden era of Born Again Movement During these years membership in various Born Again Churches increased because they where able to infiltrate mainline Protestant Churches and had lured nominal Catholics into their fold.However their steady growth ceases starting the year 1990 and their membership declined in the succeeding years. In the year 2000 Born Again Churches from the United States sent their missionaries in the Philippines to re-established the Born Again Movement and this time their primary mission is no longer to infiltrate Protestant and Catholic Churches but targeted the youth in schools particularly college students.Born Again evangelist does not want to discuss the history of the Christian church, in their Bible studies with their prospects, they intentionally limit the discussion to the Bible alone. They conceal the history of the Christian religion because it will show that their movement did not originate from the apostles. It is necessary for them to negate history because St. Paul warned us not to accept teachings that did not originate from the apostles Gal.1:8 and Born Again Movement evidently cannot trace the history of their church into the time of the apostles.Clearly Born Again evangelization has deception as its chief foundation and they even used selected passages from the Bible to deceive people. They usually start evangelizing by asking ambiguous questions such as “Are you saved?” or “Are you born again?”, if the person answers “no or I don’t know” they will tell you that you must accept Christ as a Lord and Personal Savior in order to be born again otherwise you will be damned to hell. And if the person will answer “yes” they will invite you to their church and worship with them. And if the person is a Catholic that would mean that you have to leave the Catholic Church and do away your Catholic beliefs about Mary, the Saints, confession etc. Let us be vigilant not to fall to the snares of the Born Again movement.😉😉

This sermon was very timely. I had just had a conversation with a few of my fellow Catholic friends, who accept abortion, and don’t really believe in hell. Their contention was that it didn’t seem probable that people of different faiths wouldn’t go to heaven too. I tried to explain it to them, but this sermon sums it up quite neatly. I will have to share it with them.

God’s justice is perfect In recognizing that the biblical idea of hell isn’t eternal conscious torment, we need to be cautious we don’t fall into the other ditch of thinking there is no ultimate punishment for the wicked. Because God is love, does any kind of punishment at all contradict His character? Absolutely not. Unrepentant sinners will be punished-but fairly and impartially. And not in the kind of eternal hell in which most people believe. The Bible foretells God’s judgment on the wicked. As punishment, the hardened, unrepentant sinner will be thrown into a lake of fire and will be burned up-no eternal torture, just a merciful, quick death penalty. This is the real hellfire. The unrepentant wicked will not burn forever in this fire. Instead, they will be totally and completely burned up-destroyed and reduced to ashes by the flames of the lake of fire. Have you ever read this Bible passage? “‘For behold, the day is coming, burning like an oven, and all the proud, yes, all who do wickedly will be stubble. And the day which is coming shall burn them up,’ says the Lord of hosts, ‘that will leave them neither root nor branch . . . You shall trample the wicked, for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet on the day that I do this,’ says the Lord of hosts” (Malachi 4:1-3). God’s Word is clear: Those who ultimately choose not to repent of their wickedness and sin will be punished by fire-but not the mythical hell of men’s imagination. It’s not an ever-burning hellfire. It’s not eternal, conscious isolation from God. It’s not unending emotional, mental or physical torment. It’s not everlasting shame, regret or pain. It is final capital punishment that brings the end of life-in fact, the end of existence, utter annihilation, with conscious awareness never to return. The truth about hell displays God’s mercy God respects human choice. Because of His loving character and intent that we be like Him, He doesn’t force belief on anyone. Instead He wants us to willingly choose His way. The desperately wicked will be punished not because God refuses to forgive them. It will be a conscious choice on their part to refuse God’s mercy and not repent. Since the wicked will not choose His way, they will be consumed by fire and be no more. They won’t be tortured for all eternity. In fact, God loves them so much He wants their suffering to end. There is no contradiction. God is a God of mercy and love. He mercifully puts those who reject Him, the Source of all life and all goodness, out of their misery. God is the God of great wisdom, mercy and righteous judgment. When it comes to the topic of eternal punishment and hell, that is the most important thing to remember: God is a God of mercy and love. Hell is a controversial and often misunderstood subject. What’s the truth? Your Bible clearly states that the wicked will be consumed-destroyed by fire. They will no longer exist. They won’t suffer in eternal conscious torment. When God’s plan for humanity is complete, there will be no more crying, no more tears, no more sorrow, no more pain (Revelation 21:4). The final death of the hopelessly wicked in a lake of fire is a loving act of God’s justice and mercy. We can all be thankful for His fairness and great plan of salvation through Jesus Christ. He’s planned a wonderful future for those who love Him and accept His mercy. I hope you’ll choose to learn more about it! Four Different Words Translated “Hell” in English Bibles None of the words translated “hell” in English Bibles refers to a conscious afterlife of endless torment. In fact, Scripture states that there is no conscious awareness in death, but that we must be raised to conscious existence in a future resurrection (see Ecclesiastes 9:5, 10; Daniel 12:2; 1 Corinthians 15:6; 1 Corinthians 15:18; 1 Corinthians 15:20; 1 Corinthians 15:51; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-14). So what do these words translated “hell” mean? First is the Old Testament Hebrew sheol, which is equivalent to the New Testament Greek term hades. Both these words are used in Scripture in reference to the grave-to burial in the earth. Next is the Greek term tartaroo, which occurs in only one verse (2 Peter 2:4). It refers here to the present condition of demons, rebellious angels, being restrained or imprisoned on the earth. Last is the word gehenna, the New Testament Greek form of the Hebrew Gai Hinnom, the Valley of Hinnom than ran along the west and south sides of Jerusalem. During biblical times of terrible apostasy people were burned here in pagan sacrifice-and it became a place to burn garbage. This term was used by Jesus in reference to future judgment in the lake of fire that will ultimately burn up the wicked. There is no sense here of a fire burning and torturing forever.

Becky, if you mean to suggest that everyone goes to heaven it’s simply not true. There is plenty in the New Testament that suggests otherwise. Jesus says in one Gospel passage that at the final judgment the sheep and the goats will be separated , the sheep enter into the Kingdom and the goats to eternal fire…Matthew 25:44 is just one of many examples. Jesus spoke of hell more than he spoke of heaven. It’s why the Church is very serious about reconciliation and penance.

St. Augustine. In a work entitled “True and False Penance” he says: Let no one hope to do penance when he can no longer sin. God wishes us to perform this work cheerfully and not through compulsion. Therefore, he who, instead of leaving his sins, waits until they leave him, acts from necessity rather than from choice. For this reason they who would not return to God when they could, but are willing to seek Him when they are no longer able to sin, will not so easily obtain what they desire.

It is not a "rejection" of specific Catholic ideas by Protestants after their baptism, if they were never taught them. A post-baptismal denial of faith is a grave sin. But NOT for a Protestant who was never given the full deposit of faith. They are NOT denying something if they were never told something. They are not heretics. They are ignorant. 1. where does the Scriptures EVER say salvation comes "thru the church"? the "church" is comprised of those who are saved already, the body of Christ. so if catholics cant know if they are saved, then to what "church" do they belong?the bible i read says salvation comes be faith is Christ. it is HE who saves. 2. where did Jesus ever teach that any man can do anything to save another? if the blood of thousands of lambs at the hands of thousands of priests cannot save, then no priest today can save, except the High Priest, the Lamb of God. He alone has the power to forgive sin and save. salvation brings u INTO the body of Christ, so if u arent saved u are NOT part of His church. 3. if u are trusting a corrupt "priesthood" filled with pedophiles, adulterers, drunks and mystics to dispense only a "hope" of salvation, the lost you are and lost u will remain. If Jesus cannot save all by Himself, the He is not God 4. "if you will confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you WILL be saved" (romans 10:9) "I am the way, the truth and the life. NO man comes to the Father except through ME" (john 14:6) now tell me where in there it says anything about a priest, a church, a ritual etc??

St. Louis de Montfort "The Little Number of those Who are Saved" I don't know how people can come across and learn about not only Who was Jesus Christ and what factually happened before, during and after his life but also learn about all the prophets, what they said, what was fulfilled, all the mystics and Saints, what they said and did, The Shroud of Turin, etc etc and still turn away or continue denying. There are serious questions regarding the validity of that sermon though; which are worth noting. For one, he said 36,000 people died that hour. Right now, about 6,000 people die every hour despite there being about 6.5 Billion more people alive now than there were then. Either there was something particularly cataclysmic at the moment, or let’s just say his math is questionable at best. The second issue is that many saints don’t agree with him. Saint Francis de Sales, for example, believed that it would be possible for the majority of Catholics to be saved; though that would be a minority within humanity’s history. The third problem is that this is by far, the most specific numbers ever given, by far, ever. If our Lord didn’t find it fit to give numbers, and no other Saint even thought it worthy to speculate, how come there is one Saint who comes along and quotes a vision from somebody else in order to give precise numbers? I would say the Saint is certainly not infallible in this sermon - but because it also goes against the grain compared to everyone else; I would not be surprised if the vision he quotes was demonic for the purpose of bringing despair among Catholics. This would not be impossible, as even the wonderworking Saint Vincent Ferrer backed an antipope.
