Does the cotton jersey on the outside have a purpose other than for looks? Trying to decide if I need to go buy some or if I can just use the absorbent fabric I have 🤔. Very helpful video, thanks!

You can just use a couple layers of absorbent fabric like organic bamboo stretch french terry or organic bamboo/hemp stretch french terry.

It is. You want to make sure you achieve the desired gsm so may need more or fewer
