I just watched this video (I’m a new follower) and while I love to hand sew my little zipper bags, the embroidered ones are so much easier 😂 it’s amazing what you can do in the hoop. A good tip though…if you can avoid it, never use tear away on a bag design. For the window part, water soluble stabilizer works great and you can wet around the window to remove excess. Otherwise use medium mesh cut away. Tear away makes your bag crinkly. Try the Zip & Go bag from Embroidery Garden. Hers is done in only one hooping and the ID pocket is inside where the card won’t slip out. Her zipper is also on the front and sits nicer. Another fun project from the same designer is the Taylor Bag. That bag is amazing. Talk about 🤯🤯 check her out!! ❤ always love you energy and bag making skills!!

I just have a one needle machine. My impatience would not allow me to do so many steps. But I did think of a tip: tear off some pieces of tape ahead of time so you don't have to turn lose of the project to tear the tape when making those tedious folds. You are great at explaining all the steps in every video. I enjoy watching them all.

This was my first Rosebarn project. I love it. But I don't think I could have completed it using their instructions had I not seen your video. I've made 4 so far. I'm going to try one using no-show mesh. I don't like that crinkly feel of the tear-away inside the wallet. I love your tutorials!

I need to try that mesh as well! I'm so glad the video was helpful.

This pattern has actually been re-vamped by Honey Bear Studio and re-released. We purchased all of RoseBarn's files when she closed. The written instructions have been reworked and the all the hoopings are done in a 5x7. Some steps will be slightly different from the older instructions and this tutorial. :)

You know I've been wondering that as well. I wanted to start out with really simple in-thie-hoop design first, so it probably could be done just as quickly with the sewing machine. We'll move into the more intricate patterns soon where I think the embroidery machine will really help!
@fritziskunterbunteschaos91733 жыл бұрын
Hey Jess, is there a reason you didn't cut off the outer fabric excess before gluing shut the turn opening in the lining? The outer fabric should have a seam, right?
@ambercagle45423 жыл бұрын
I think it does have a seem. It was just excess that hadn't been cut off yet. In theory you could probably cut down the exterior before adding the heat n bond.

If you want to save on stabilizer, just cut a piece big enough to cover the area you just cut and adhere to the left over bigger piece. Hope that makes sense.

@anuradhateachout64463 жыл бұрын
This is so darn cute!!! But I feel like it is a lot of work. Wouldn’t this be easier to do on a sewing machine? I don’t have a machine with a big enough hoop so this in just an opinion. I feel like on a sewing machine you can fix things as you go or make adjustments. I’ll probably change my mind if I ever get a machine with a big enough hoop.
@OklaRoots3 жыл бұрын
I think time wise it would be about the same. But many people with an embroidery machine don't use sewing machines (crazy right?!). So this allows them to make bags as well.

Seems like Step. 2 could've been done in the sewing machine, sad to waste one hoop/stabilizer on one stitch. Although I save all leftover stabilizer but seemed like step 2 is easily done in sewing machine. Also, if you could find embroidery patterns that include all sizes? Most designs have them all or at least start at a 5x7. I have a PE800 and can't go bigger. Most 4x4 know they are limited as it is but I've done many things with my 5x7 included quilted bags in the hoop!

@@OklaRoots I have been helping a friend with her Vlogmas series this christmas. She does all her own camera/editing, and everything. a one Woman show truly. lol. And that is how you do it. Just title it like this Chapter 00:00 Introduction 03:21 Next Break Title etcetera You MUST put 00:00 in FIRST Otherwise it does not work. Good luck I love your Videos
@kimlightfoot3 жыл бұрын
@Jess Also All of your Time Codes Must be Proper So 3:21 does not add the break lines to the Videos but 03:21 does. And when you get to 12:03 Continue on until you hit the 1 hour mark, then it is 01:03:21 So Hour, Minute and Seconds Matter. Use the 24 Hour clock codes for those videos past 12 hours not that any of your videos run that long. But who knows, one day you may want to string together a bunch of your Videos into a 24 hour of Marathon Watch This Video lol. Again, Add these Time Codes into your Description where you post all your supplies, Space before and After them. Check out my friend's channel. Nice Video! Wow, the written instructions on this pattern are terrible. I'm so sorry this was your first ITH bag. Great design and pattern, just awful instructions. Thanks for the video. I made the size 3 zipper version and the window pieces are fine, but the bag pieces should be named (In order of use): Outside front; Lining front (press upper edge WST and place right side up on back of hoop just over lower zipper tack down); Outside back; Lining back (place right side down on back of hoop). All these pieces should be cut to 6x7. Also, I struggled with the tearaway stabilizer for the third hooping and then noticed that they were using no-show mesh (cutaway) in the photos without having given a recommendation for that hooping. I would definitely recommend a something like that for the third bag due to the zipper and the number of steps. This ends up inside the bag and is a lightweight interfacing that will hold up to becoming wet. I made a second bag with these recommendations and it came together nicely. Finally, I'd add KamSnap or something to prevent the ID from slipping out.
