Good evening, My name is Jerome Drew and I’m one of the great-great grandsons of “the Potato King of the World” Junius George Groves and Matilda Emily Groves. I appreciate you shedding a spotlight on my great-great grandparents and their contributions to not only our nation but to other countries around the world. Their story is truly one of perseverance and resilience at a time when opportunities for African-Americans were profoundly limited. Please keep up the good work because you have such an enjoyable and educational presentation, one that truly needs to be noted and taught, as was the story their good friend George Washington Carver, in our American history books. Thank you again. 🙏🏾❤️

Wow, thanks for reaching out. We plan to do an entire show on the Groves. We're gathering more information. Anything you might have to contribute? Maybe memories passed down through family and friends about the King and his Queen? Let's stay in tough. After 50 years we're still learning about the potato and potato people like the Groves. That's the endless fascination with spuds. There's no end to this story. And we also have a huge collection about sweet potatoes including the Carver connection. Just so much content and so little time.

@ Hello and thank you for reaching back out to me. Your plan to do an entire show on the Groves Family sounds very exciting!! Over the generations, the Groves Family has also had other family members who have made significant contributions to our American society in some very important areas. My grandfather, the grandson of Junius and Matilda, was Weldon K. Groves. He was one of the documented original Tuskegee Airmen pilots and one of the flight leaders. He was one of the primary instrument flight instructors. Needless to say, his story, like his grandfather’s before him, has left the Groves Family a TREMENDOUS legacy!! I’ll be looking out for more of your most entertaining content and again thank you for reaching back out. Stay in touch.👍🏾
