Ultimately she wanted what she thought was best for everyone but lost sight of her purpose and needed someone to remind her what it's all for. Mayday and Zuke were definitley not totally good guys either, they all acknowledged that there was blame to share and that their shortsightedness brought this on everyone.

I seriously like the fact that Mayday's character isn't written like other protagonists. Sure, she had a goal, and did whatever she could to achieve it, and reacted how one would expect to realizing she was wrong... But when offered the chance to join the new NSR, she turned down the offer, and didn't make up any pleading guilt-trip story for B2J's fans. She just took the guilt, and rolled along, not trying to atone for them more than she already, helping to save the Tower, and hy extent, the city. She's more human than any other protagonist I've seen.

I think they represent the kinds of people who want change in the music industry for the better, although their views got contorted along the way. She just wanted things to get better, not to be known as a hero for it or gain a ridiculous amount of fame in the end. I really like that since it makes her feel much more grounded and easier to relate too, and so it's incredibly easy to wind up adoring her character haha.

It’s been said before, but all the bosses represent the bad side of the performers of the genre. DJ Subatomic Supernova is a DJ with an Inflated ego. Sayu is basically a Vocaloid controlled by teens who are having their talents exploited by bigger companies. Yinu is a child prodigy with lots of pressure on her (in the last phase of her battle she starts saying that she hates everyone). And so on. Kliff represents the bad side of the fans. An entitled fan that believes that just because he supports an artist, he deserves their time and attention. A simp but for performers, if you will.

@@Renkencen Can’t really say anything about Neon but 1010 is a parody of boybands/kpop. Not having a single thought to themselves, superficial ‘hot’ looks when the only difference is their hairstyle and color, and everything has to be in sync. The fact that they are literally mass produced robots also adds to the fact. It’s hard to pin down exactly what Eve could be an allegory of in regards to music. But a depressed person acting out in an eccentric manner can be common in entertainment.

They werent doing it for anything though, NSR exclusivley used energy that powered the city for the leaders in there own districts and after the audition they completley banned rock, while dening them the reward of the auditions even though they beat the compition. They decided to act as soon as NSR was planning its own agenda and had prejudice towards rock.

If Tatiana hadn't said what she said, I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they turned around and banned EDM if they gained power. Their hearts were probably in the right place, but becoming the enemy really doesn't change anything. Which is why I said I'm glad they addressed this issue.

For the majority of this game Zuke seems to get most of the character development and at times spotlight. While Maydqy by her very nature is up front and central goes down a darker road. In the end, the true villain wasn't the corporation or the people who work in it, it was the ideals that they currently hold when they abandon the old ones. They just needed someone to help realize it by reminding them what they originally wanted to do and why they did it in the first place

Eh? Tatiana still stays an EDM producer in the ending, it's why she gives Mayday her guitar. Her time as a rock musician is over and she is invested in a different genre now, but that doesnt mean rock is bad, nor that she should bury it, and that it's time to give new blood new chances.

I like how, in the end, neither side is truly correct in this game. Bunk Bed Junction tried to bring down EDM, which would've destroyed several other artist's works to get what they want, but they did it because they wanted to stop the blackouts as well. NSR, Tatiana specifically, banned rock from the Lights Up Auditions because it wasn't as prominent in Vinyl City... The leaders of NSR tried to defend their parts because EDM was their livelihoods, for most at least. We have several moments where we see the actions of both sides, and how that affected the other one. A good example is when BBJ broke Yinu's piano, which was from her father. We see how destroyed she was, and felt bad for her... We technically helped cause this to happen. In the end, neither side was truly the right side. It's only when Kliff threatens the tower that Mayday sees that she's becoming the very thing she set out to destroy, and helps save it. And NSR realize their wrongdoings, and allow all other forms of music back into Vinyl City. No Straight Roads may be buggy, but it's story really gets you to realize that nobody is fully right or wrong. The title truly exemplifies that. There are no straight roads in life, but we can always forge our own path... and sometimes, to forge that path... You need to backtrack, like how Mayday and Zuke returned the leaders of NSR to their districts, when they first wanted them gone.

As much I dont want to admit, I guess Kliff was something of a bad guy, he embodies the bad aspects of a true fan, feeling that their loyalty and support should be felt by their stars, only to feel betrayed and brokenhearted when they change or give up their original style. Kliff thought that making Rock have total control of Vinyl City would be better than Tatiana controlling with EDM, but he was wrong as well. No one music should stand precedence and priority above all other genres, but rather all music should be heard, regardless of people's tastes and favorites, to be supported and appreciated, even by those who dont like it. Also crashing the satellite into the tower and significantly damaging the city was definitely too far

Well, if you recall, the objects that Mayday and Zuke can transform with their music also have little metronomes attached to them that sway back and forth. The NSR tower was just a giant version of those smaller transforming metronomes, with the city itself being the thing that was transformed.

Something to notice: EVERY SINGLE ARTIST on NSR has their own Showstopper stance. Be it a coreography(Sayu/Eve), a "1-2-hook punch" sequence(Neon J/DJSS), or simply doing an "inspired" move at the piano(Yinu). This could be used as a "shoo" move in case someone lost to them... If not because they LEARNED this move from B2J.

Yeah. I personally think that the final showstopper could use some more work. I especially don’t like how Mayday and Zuke were just standing with their idle animation. I would prefer a truly epic showstopper sequence with Mayday powering up her guitar, DJSS spinning his records, Sayu summoning her trident, Yinu sliding her fingers across her piano keys, Neon J’s screen flashing “READY!”, Eve striking her “diva’s realm” pose, and Zuke clashing his drumsticks. I would love to get in touch with the creators and ask them to make it a DLC, but I don’t know how to contact Wan Hazmir.

This ending is pretty interesting, at least from my own perspective. I've always wanted to be an artist, really any kind. Musician, painter, game designer, writer, etc. I have studied those fields and in one way or another I have always seemed to come up short. I have ADD so it's difficult to write for any extended amount of time, I am uncordinated so it's difficult to play an instrument, etc. The way Tatiana described being an artist as a priviledge was very bittersweet, I know the writer didn't intend to portray art as elitist or impossible to attain, and was merely describing how great art is. But I couldn't help but feel kinda bad after hearing it. In addition, I find it really interesting from the perspective of someone who is not a fan of corporations in general. I feel like I share a similar belief to Zuke and Mayday in that while I believe the fundamental things that allow a corporation or monopoly to exist are bad, I do not think Tatiana herself has done wrong. (In the end, anyway.) Which made the ending feel conflicting in a sorta different way. When I looked at the credits I honestly felt kind of bad, the writers, the designers, the musical artists, even the ceo. I felt a kind of jealousy. This game inspires me but in a way has also forced me to observe my own shortcomings. I really hope someday I could be an artist or someone with their own enterprise (which is unlikely, I'm pretty poor). But for now I wanna appreciate this game for what it is, a really great colloboration of artists that explores things from the perspectives of so many different groups, the business executives, the various artists and their various reasons for creating art, those I can relate to, those I can't. P.S. As someone with a very varied musical taste, I loved that aspect of the ending.

I feel like there was a lot of missed opportunities with the ending of this story and that it all just seem to miraculously workout a bit odd they had a lot of potential and could have made in a characters depth a little bit more pronounce for example in that big last fight she should have whipped out her guitar and then suddenly done the reveal mid combat when you don't have time but think and then suddenly she gets a huge power spike it would have been so much more impactful is well is the fact that she had the moral high ground for the most part and could have spent way longer talking to the main characters trying to convince from rather than just turn to violence when that started to look like it wasn't gonna work she had more than enough proverbial ammunition to use as to why what they were doing wrong I feel like she could have at least convince them a little bit harder rather than just beat them into the ground as she assumed she would be able to the fact that when asked if the main character's even know how to run a city they didn't really have a decent comeback that alone was enough of a conversation Point you want to take over a city by force and you don't know the first thing about running it even if what she was doing this horrible she can easily say with it being 100% through the chances are significantly higher that they're going to screw up even worse than she did indirectly causing the deaths of people because of it sorry voice-to-text thanks for reading

A detail I seem to not find anyone mentioning is the meter at the top slowly going from full on rock into majority EDM, although the flames signifying your dominance in battle stay. It seems to represent how EDM is having it's major grip of Vinyl City given back to it, although rock is what's giving it back. I actually planned to make a video about this masterpiece of a game, but scrapped it whenever all the points were obvious to people.

I'm gritting my teeth at how easy it is for anyone let alone Mayday to think they "became the bad guys". In the end only one person had the position to make a good decision and not a bad one: Tatianna. She would've inevitably banned rock altogether because of her own past with her band using "bad behavior" is just her gaslighting Mayday and Zuke. They may have been grabbing power as part of Kliff's plan, but taking control of the districts was their only way to get to NSR and confront Tatianna in the first place. There's zero indication that anything was being done to solve the energy issue, and those artists were never free to vote on their own convictions at the audition: Tatianna likely gave them their charters on the stipulation they maintain order and status quo with her ideals. Were Yinu's mother not providing the EDM element to her classical piano Yinu would have been chopped as an NSR artist.
