119 ignorants...The basic classical or fingerstyle technique is just this. Play the bass, chords and the melodic line. Not genius at all, but trained guitarists do the same, all over the world. You have zillions examples here in youtube.

@@dasse1588 just in case this isn't a joke, the harmonics are the very high pitch notes that he picks in the beginning and the end. They're very difficult to not only pick out but extremely difficult to place your finger so that the note or "harmonic" will be in key.😉 This is really the only thing that you do on a guitar that is independent of the frets, making it even more difficult to do so perfectly like the player does in this video. Anyway, thought I would comment this just in case. 👌

That first sentence is so bang on. The perception of his experience is a significant part of the video's magic. It's beautifully evident from 3:22 onwards, in the the way João seems to earnestly bow his head against the harmonies and resonances being produced; his countenance displaying a kind of solemn and pained determination. That final verse is the emotional apex, and João renders a wounded but dignified tonal declaration of relief, a grateful purging of pain. No wonder he feels something as he plays it.
