Lost Man's Lane is one of my favorite books of the year. Thank you so much for recommending it. I also enjoyed Bury Your Gays.

So glad you showcased Lost Man Lane! No one else is talking about it, which surprises me, considering the reviews and the synopsis. I bought it and am going to be starting it soon...super excited to read it!

Definitely going to check out this Scott Carson release- sounds like a really compelling read and after feeling slumpy (maybe it's the heat?) a fast read sounds awesome! Bodies to Die for and Bury Your Gays are definitely on my radar as well. Always love your recommendations, Rachel!

How To Survive a Horror Movie sounds like the identical setup to Burn the Negative. Not sure if you're read that or not, but that was fun and fast paced. It wasn't groundbreaking, but I think it accomplished what it set out to. Can't wait to read Lost Man's Lane! Always looking for a new COA story.

I got the ARC for Lost Man's Lane and then kind of forgot about it, so maybe I ought to move it up the pile.

The most disturbing stories I've read were "The Colour out of Space" by H.P. Lovecraft, and "I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream" by Harlan Ellison.

I read Where They Wait by Carson last year and thought it was fun but nothing crazy. I was prepared to write off Lost Man Lane until I heard your review - I'll definitely check it out now!

this is a very specific recommendation question but I was wondering is there any horror books that give Blair Witch Project vibes?

I started listening to you until you spoilered who the kidnapper was in the first book. Then, I stopped the video. In my opinion, if you want to talk about books, you shouldn't get into details preventing other readers from being surprised or scared, or whatever because they have already been informed about what's gonna happen.
@TheShadesofOrangeАй бұрын
None of these books are sequels so I'm just not sure what you are referring to. I agree that one has to be careful with plot points when discussing sequels
@dfxdfx5368Ай бұрын
@@TheShadesofOrange It doesn't matter whether they have sequels or not. If you tell me straight away that the policeman turns out to be the kidnapper, I can't be interested in reading the book any longer as I already know an important part of the plot, even if that happens at the beginning of the book. That is just my taste; I like getting the mood of the book, what you liked about it in terms of structure, dialogues, creativity, originality; was it moving? Was it gritty? Did it scare you? Etc. but I want to discover what happens without previous knowledge.
@TheShadesofOrangeАй бұрын
@dfxdfx5368 oh I see what you're saying. That's not what actually happens That's the synopsis on the book
@dfxdfx5368Ай бұрын
@@TheShadesofOrange In that case, I apologize. Anyway, I don't usually read the synopsis as well. I m a bit obsessed with spoilers 😂
@TheShadesofOrangeАй бұрын
@dfxdfx5368 no need to apologize. I actually strongly agree with your perspectives. Most reviewers give away WAY more than I want to know, even if not totally a spoiler. Like you, I find reactions more valuable that someone giving me a book report. I only gave away so much because that is basic that synopsis is not actually what happens. But quite frankly I felt word giving such a long explanation. I think it's important for content creators to be open to criticism. It just took me a minute to catch on to the part you were objecting to

I'll look for Bodies to Die For. Still can't believe you haven't read Hawk Mountain. Love the channel.
