Smh.... This video was the best video I've seen in the past decade........UNTILLLLL... I found out my boat doesnt even have a vin on it. It looks like to previous owner rebuild it and removed the vin, from the plate on the back... I guess its safe to say I'm screwed.

I know I’m really late, but how do you know how much money to send with the bill of sale? I have a 1986 bass hawk with no papers and I am still a bit confused about how to pay for the registration and stuff like that

I believe there is a section on the paperwork that shows how to calculate. I did end up calling the DMV up there and talking to someone and they were able to tell me the check amount to send.

I live in Massachusetts & the boat, recreational vehicle & snowmobile was so rude she hung up on me yesterday cuz I was trying to explain to her our situation & she kept telling me to get the title. The boat is a 1997 seadoo challenger 1800 we have bill of sale, title receipt & registration (but no title 😑) she was rude & didn't want to help us at all she just kept telling "no title don't bother" advice please

I had them send it to my house in MD... Same situation in MD as far as getting it registered once you get it back from VT. I just haven't taken it to the DNR here to get it titled/registered in MD yet because, well I have another 9 months on this registration. However, I fall in a unique category (active duty) that allows me to have a year without getting it registered if the primary waters is in MD.

Hey so how do I obtain the vin numbers for the trailer and the boat? I'm in Florida and I bought a 10 foot dinghy. The bill of sail I have for it is basically a piece of paper that the seller and I signed with the information that she sold the boat to me. This is all I have. Great video. Thanks for sharing.

If it has a VIN or Boat Hull number, take that and your bill of sale to the DMV, tell them that the boat was only used on a private lake with a paddle and so it never needed to be registered and ask them for their version of the BoS (there is a florida specific one) and an affidavit. You and the other party fill out their version of the BoS and an affidavit that it isn't stolen yada yada. The run the numbers to check. There is some follow up paperwork, plan on an hour or two. Sometimes a deputy wants to verify the number so take a pic or have it the boat with you. If they are real a-holes they will have to get some dispatched or w/e. One that is one. Pay the $37 and they will give you the stickers on the spot. If it doesn't have a number you have to play the home built boat game. Likely they will send an officer out to check that it was home built, if it doesn't look it... you're probably SOL. Get someone to weld a transom reinforcement and a couple mounting brackets around the rails. Maybe some weird lighting pole to see at night in an obscure place like right on the bow. That would def come across as home-built.

So I did have to pay the tax but the “trailer was free” with the boat. I bought mine for 350$ so I ended up paying something like 76$. I believe the calculations are on the sheet but worst case, could call the dmv in VT and ask. Depends on what’s on the bill of sale though.

HEADS UP VERMONT JUST CLOSED THE LOOP HOLE TO GET TITLES FOR ABANDONED BOATS AND VEHICLES . I have two jet skis that was abandoned by a customer back in June . I live in Nevada they shut down the law that would of allowed me to get titles for these skis they will not help me I was told all you can do now is call Law Enforcement and have they towed and impounded! Yeah no shit! I called Idaho DMV because that was the last address of the registered owner and THEY WILL NOT HELP ME I AM OUT OF STATE . I CALLED DMV HERE TO TRY TO GET A BONDED TITLE THEY WONT HELP ME ITS WATER CRAFT . DIVISION OF WILDLIFE DOES TITLES HERE IN NEVER I HAVE BEEN CHECKING FOR DAYS YOU ARE F IN SHIT OUT OF LUCK IF YOU WANT A TITLE FOR A WATER CRAFT ! I HAVE TWO REALLY NICE HONDA TURBO SKIS AND I AM PRETTY MUCH FU KKED

I couldn't tell from the explanation did your trailer have to be over 15 or 25 years old? Thinking about pulling the trigger on one and this would save me a bunch of headache
