2:04 This Thai group you met is the "original" way to play Songkran. Pouring water politely and say good words. When time passed, it becomes a crazy water war. I personally don't like that way, but tourists like it. 😂

That’s in my memory long time ago when I was a child and it’s been become water fight, it’s a pity but I don’t mind as long as it passes goodwill and fun. (At first I felt sorry but i try to accept Change keep the old tradition alive.)
@travelwithnou7 ай бұрын
That's how Songkran play at home with families and friends. The water guns fight can only be found in big cities and tourism areas. Which most tourists thought Songkran is a fun water fight with water guns, but if they go to outside big cities, whey will experience Songkran the real traditional way.

Now the craziness is raised a notch. There are lots of "groping and squeeeezing" during this festival. Two days ago there was " oral sex show " on Silom road while people were having fun with splashing water. So watch out!!

7 years since I left my home country. I didn’t celebrate Thailand Songkran in Scandinavia 😢too cold and different culture here even my partner who doesn’t like it at all. In Songkran, It was like that when I was young people said politely before and smiled to each other. I really missed that❤

I'm sorry to read that. I'm sorry for you. Maybe you will have a chance once again to experience the love, happiness and fun of Thai New Year soon. You need to live in a different culture.
@@pp-ty1hp Im not Thai but I’m Vietnamese, so… still Asian!! It might a bit easier for Youngful Asian generation if they’re born & raise in FORIGNERS lands or immigrants to Western at young age. While most of us, born & raise rest life in our country (no matter if it’s China, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam,etc..) its hard for us who’s fluent of cultures, traditional stuffs, foods then living in Western country. Special for ppl who’s over 30s, all the daily stuffs & cultures stuffs it become habit, mindset & in our bloods. Maybe because of jobs, people leave their country working or immigrants somewhere far away. But the rest of their life will be missing part!!

I agree. I used to carry a bowl for water 30 years ago during Songkran. We poured water to each other politely, or splash water to each other but no water guns like today. I understand time changed, and things have changed. Have fun and stay safe.

Songkran is a venerable festival with a history spanning centuries, globally renowned and bringing some countries closer to Thailand. However, it's crucial to refrain from merely copying or appropriating Thailand's Songkran festival. Please respect the cultural integrity and origins of the event. Thank you for visiting Thailand and joining in the festivities of Songkran. I hope you have a thoroughly enjoyable and happy time, and please do share with your friends the impressive nature of Thailand's Songkran festival.
Smiling so while watching your video! Great vibe :)

Thailand has a new year like any other country as usual. But ancient Thailand raised the Songkran tradition to the Thai New Year. Thai people therefore regard Songkran Day as another day of the Thai New Year. So that Thai people can join together in making merit by pouring water on Buddha images for children, pouring water on adults, and asking for blessings from adults. and making Thai people play happily splashing water and mixing flour together
Very good idea to came this place ✌✌✌💌 Happy Songkrang day in Thailand

I got so sick of Songkran after spending 1,5 week of Songkran in patong / pattaya in 2017.. figured i'd never enjoy it again after being splashed for 10 days straight.. but honestly this video did make me miss it a bit. Maybe i'll go back again in april in a year or two.
