I’m never worried about what you accomplish in a week and whether you work outside or inside. Please work at whatever makes you happy. it’s your time you do whatever you would like to share. It’s not my business to question how much land you have or what you do with your time or what you’re not doing with your time. Thank you for the update on the cats. I enjoyed myself immensely watching your video. I do believe you do your part with taking care of stray, animals having them in your home. Thank you very much for all your hard work it’s appreciated. Buttercups in the meadow. A friend has a house cow called Buttercup - some people have a cow that wanders around and you get fresh, real milk from them and yes I live on a farm in the rolling countryside of Wiltshire. We have a feral cat called Mr Tippy Toes who lives in our haybarn. He now feels comfortable enough to come into the kitchen, scream 'Feed me' and then go off doing what cats do - catching the odd rabbit, rats and mice and picking up enormous ticks. My husband, the grumpy and archetypical farmer doesn't do pet cats - in fact 'pets' in general. I keep him grounded with serveral of my own pets, including llamas - wonderful, hardy animals which would love your field. Mine are tame, although they don't like my husband. I wonder why.

We were dairy farmers on 270 aches but now have 25 aches I have horses and Beef cattle which I fatten and sell on u could do the same . Or get that grass made into silage which would be a better idea in spring sell it or sell the grass as standing grass . It's all income .I had cats at our Dairy farm brought most of them to the smaller farm most are desexed. Only have 2 cats that come inside the rest are very much out door cats .Trapping them will start off good but cats are clever and if the others see one in the cage they remember it . Most wild cats will go a bit nuts on the first few minutes of being in the cage as u may find out . Then the next step is to get them desexed. But it's a good idea . Some of my cats have gone since moving here 😢 I've heard people shooting over in the farm next door Sparky and Ted have not been seen for 4 weeks now it's sad what people do .

I adore your chateau! Would rather two days. Week be spent on the grounds, and have things go slower in the chateau! Everything you two HAVE done, has been impeccable. And in such good taste! Take your time, the Good Fairies aren’t going to drop in and give you a prize for fast shoddy work! You are awesome. So good to see the donkeys, dogs and kitties💗 Your storage looks exactly like mine 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 My handyman keeps saying we’ll get to it a make a run to the dump. Two yrs later? Well……….. Your fields are the buffer from neighbors and, housing developments! Oh my, that’s one big trap. I would trap the kitties and take them in the traps to the vets! It will take you both to get it in the car! Bless you! I had five traps. Best of luck, you are doing a good thing 😡😡😡😡

My parents moved from the city to the countryside here in Denmark 45 years ago. And all that time they have had outside cats coming to feed. Always between 5-10 cats. Many of them from the neighbouring farms. The problem is when they get kitties, so about 5 years ago they decided to catch and spade them to control the amount. They still live outside and are doing just fine even in the cold winters with very low degrees.

I'm happy for you! I've lived in different apartments the past 23 years, and noisy neighbors are the worst! I remember when I worked in a nursing home and started my shifts at 6am, I had a neighbor that was doing drugs and had these amphetamine/cocain parties and they were literally partying 24/7,so they kept me awake during the night and were still at it when I arrived home from work in the afternoon. It was exhausting and I was angry most of the time. Now I rent an apartment on the ground floor of a house, and an eastern European family rents above me. They are noisy due to their small kids running around, but just during the day.. But we live right next to a highly trafficked main road so there's a lot of noise with ambulances, cars, trucks 24/7...every time my kids and I travel to a cabin by the ocean or in the mountains and we only hear the ocean or the river and birds chirping - I'm in heaven and fantasize about living somewhere like you do with just nature around. My apartment is full of black mold as well... So I want to manifest a better place to live. I'm a single mom on disability, so a French Chateau is only a fantasy at this point. I'd have to manifest like the eurojackpot + a handyman husband 😂 Dreams are free though. You must be so grateful for having managed to manifest your chateau. It must be a never ending project of course, but the beautiful nature and all the animals - I'd say that makes up for the work. It was fun watching the animals in the outbuilding. I'm looking forward to watching the results of the trap project. There were a lot of different cats visiting you

Ive had up to five outdoor cats at a time , strays and rescues even some abandoned kittens i bottle-fed. I have insulated apartment buildings with pressure activated heat pads on each floor . I over feed of course because some cats are greedier bullies than others. They all get shots and " birth control " lol. What i want to convey mostly is that when i take them in for vet care they are so healthy and look it . I felt terrible the first few years that i had to leave them outside. BUT , they still become people friendly and my vet is always so pleased by how healthy they are and they have less illness and injury than a lot of his indoor patients. They all lounge on the porches use their apartments in winter. Get along and especially like i said my vet appreciates how healthy they are. I live near a cat dumping area , if i take the strays to the shelter i have to show my ID to use the services and they dump the cats right back in my driveway fixed , clipped ear, weak or sick so this is how i have helped them . Ive found homes for some but some are anti social with people so they have each other and me to hang out with. So, some cats are happier to be left alone out where they are used to being and some can come in the house . What matters is that they are happy.

If you need a back-up to convince your family to keep them all inside, give me a call. I replied below about taming feral cats. They will always prefer to be indoors because life outside can be scary. As far as your extra acreage, just remember that once you develop it, you have ruined the natural order. Keeping it wild also presents a pretty and untouched landscape for your neighbors and travelers to enjoy just as you enjoy the unspoiled views from your chateau. Your little mouse was enjoying the nourishment. Regarding trapping - be sure to cover it with a blanket once a cat is inside to create a dark environment while they are transported. They will panic if they can see outside it while you're carrying the trap. If you think about it, cats like dark hidey holes to feel protected. The blanket will provide that. Good luck.

I love seeing all your animals. So glad you are helping homeless cats. I caught 20 cats putting sardines in a large foam cup at the end of a trap like yours. The only one too smart to catch was Mom. I tried and tried but she always ran free. Had to wear oven gloves to move them from cage to cat carrier. They were very wild. I had them all fixed and took them to live at a horse stable as barn cats. I enjoyed the video. All the best to you saving these little creatures.

You have children who can enjoy it, and you have the animals who enjoy it, and you have the most spectacular French countryside views, and the outbuildings are beautiful. I was fortunate to be able to rent a house with a 473 acre garden. For next to nothing. It was very isolated. The only condition being no agriculture on the property. I had to cut a 4.6 acre firebreak with a big ride on mower. Now I had to move, about 3500kms west to Perth, WA. I can put a stepladder against the fence and be able to touch our neighbours roof. It's hell here. I am sure many of us would love to have the life you lead. I know I do.

I can't say that it has ever occurred to me that your productivity was low - quite the contrary. However, I expected your reason not to be 40 acres but the time spent coaxing two independently minded donkeys! I still chuckle when i think of one of your earlier videos when you spent days trying to collect a poop sample. As for your 5 acre field, leaving it as a field IS doing something with it. Good luck with kitty capture. One of the white ones looks in need of medical care, and the tiger - pregnant maybe?

It sounds like your move to France is beginning to have the right “feel”, because there are many good reasons for being there and you seem to have the right attitude. I know how sad it is to see San Francisco decay as it has in some areas. Having the opportunity to live in France while you are saving part of the history of that country is a good thing. While it’s difficult to renovate, take care of children, the animals, the home, the husband, etc., you are for sure living a meaningful and enriching life. Don’t give up.
