Don't you guys think that it could be a platonic love? He's young and is learning about stuff--- including feelings. He could love Vanitas platonically. A note how he wants Vanitas' blood and how it smells good... Jeanne had also said that his blood tastes very good. It could be that Vanitas has a special sort of blood (blood types). I don't think that Noe has feelings for him in a romantic way (pls don't attack me) and I'm not saying it for no reason but because you can clearly see that their bond is very strong in a platonic way. I don't think Vanitas ever thought that he would have been very close to Noe as he expected. He asked about love and yes, it could be that he has some sort of feelings for Vanitas, but it could also mean "What does it mean to love someone/how does it feel?" in a platonic non-romantic way. To be honest, it could be both, but as I said, he's very knew and is learning about many things in the world. In the real world, many people are often very close with their best friends and often get possessive over them---- which does not necessarily mean romantic feelings. It's a common human trait to get a bit possessive of the things you cherish and love the most. Best friends are often (sometimes) better than spouses, because you two have a special bond and relationship. You get each other, you love each other, you will always be there for eachother even if you fight. Anyone should envy a friendship like Noe and Vanitas, because you know that they will always be there for eachother and people who doe have this strong relationship with their friend, always hold them close.

Throughout the story which is already seen in s1, Vanitas is already teaching Noe that sometimes killing is the only way to save a person. Noe failed to give this to Louis as a child. Spoiler maybe.. It's been hinted that the more Vanitas use the book the more he get rewritten by the book. As this is what the book does, rewrites the formula. Also he made a promise to delete everything and everyone related to the blue vampire maybe this is hinting that being the last person related to him he's going on a "cleaning up the loose ends" trip before getting deleted himself. This may also be why he doesn't want to get close to anyone or show anyone his memory. Shown by how Vanitas start distancing himself the moment Noe gets too close emotionally. Also why Vanitas even hypnotize himself to kill without question, anyone who tries to peek at his memory. Just hints here and there and my theory. Take it with a grain of salt.

Vanitas alludes to this idea when he asks Jeanne if she is unable to tell him if she is cursed. Jeanne experiences blood cravings. And now, immediately after being cursed by Ruthven, Noé is also craving blood.

@Kelly Durand I don't think I've reached that episode yet, but Noe's naivety is one of the reasons I imagine him having feelings for Vanitas. He reveals to Dominique that he wants Vanitas' blood specifically after Jeanne claims it for herself. And while this could be taken literally, the fact that Dominique acts out a bit in jealousy shows that it might not just be Vanitas' blood that Noe wants. Of course, his naivety could also be the reason why he may not recognise his feelings for Dominique, but this is something I have yet to see.
