We need a "waxer" for the Olympics who comes out before each run. Like a "ball boy" or "ball girl". The skaters could go tell the "waxer" what they want waxed before their run. The Olympics wants things to look professional. A "waxer" would do.

​@@ReeWebster it's the equivalent of sport climbers not being allowed to use chalk then. Too much chalk in the holds actually reduces friction, which is why they have brushers. It's a key tool in the sport, doesn't make sense to not allow it. Especially when it's been used since forever in the major skate comps with no issues

Thats such a bogus rule, like if Hockey rink gets ice cleaned filled smoothed. Skate course should have a team that goes and Waxes everything to be ready for every skater. Honestly its just setting them up for failure and injury not allowing waxing.

Yep this is the idea right here - have everyone fill in a pre-printed diagram of where they want wax, and if they need any removed from other spots. SKATEBOARDERS would need to do this, not some polo shirt wearing Olympics guy. If all the riders come at the committee as a group from the safety and performance perspectives, they could say "This is for our safety, it happens or we don't ride". Biggest fear for a billion-plus viewer event like that is people refusing to do their part.

Dude I appreciate the shit out of this comment. I’m a Blader and have heard that comment so many times. We have a pretty solid community where I’m from where every discipline of wheeled toy is cool with each other for the most part, so it’s more of respect thing about what gets waxed and what doesn’t. Some skateboarders I know are happy to see me show up because they know I always have wax, other friends of mine are giving me shit as soon as I pull it out of the trunk.

In a contest, I’ve always wondered about wax for a few reasons. Let’s think of it this way. Let’s say you have skater one, two and three all going in that order. It’s a single trick section. The first person to go either gets a ledge that is not waxed enough for them and they fall, overly waxed for them and they fall, or, it’s perfect, and they land their trick. However, the second person to go now has something to think about. What if the ledge is significantly less waxed than the last time that they took their run. Now they’re going to expect the obstacle to slide and it’s not going to. However, what if the obstacle was actually more waxed than the last time they took the run because someone in front of them waxed it up? Now they’re gonna slip out and they’re gonna fail their trick. And believe me, we’ve all seen someone miss a trick in a skateboarding contest, because the obstacle was either super sticky, and they didn’t grind or slide or it was super waxed, and they just slid out like it was ice.
