@@blackboxbs8642 Hey! So ielts is accepted at very few universities. Penn was one of them. I was earlier planning for European universities so took ielts over TOEFL. But if you manage to get 105+on that it would be enough. Yes, good grades and much better GRE score is ideal. But focus on your essays as well as that I feel is the major portion of your profile. So activities, research work, projects and other soft skills (leadership, social work etc) and a good narrative in your SoP will seal the deal

Harvard judges you by your personality type, not marks not GPA not Research experience( yes that matters but that does not guarantee you), nobody says “ hey I don’t like your personality “. Don’t be a winner in life, sometimes be a failure , learn from life not books.

If you are not citizen, then it really does not matter, are you coming out from U.Pen or some lousy university. Both will need H1B sponsorship. So, h1b sponsorship ke liye struggle karnayee padega. Please don’t get influenced by these videos. With current pandamic, aur theen saal ko it is not going to get better. Even graduates from these hyped universities may be coming back to India for job. As he said that he utilized his summer and winter vacations by interning at IITs, so now I wanna tell what I faced while I was applying. I dont belong to a tier 1 or tier 2 college and I applied to a prof. at IIT Kanpur after my second year and by that time I already had an Engineering research experience, on the other hand my dear friend from NIT Surat had nothing experience at all but we applied to the same professor. He didnt reply to my mail and I even send him a reminder. After a week my friend called me and said that he got selected by him, I asked him how because I have much more experience and skills than him and he said "bhai NIT nhi h na tera"....This was so disheartening that I never applied to any IIT afterwards but decided to Intern at pure research Institute and I was lucky that I made it and not just once but thrice.
