NOAA in the Caribbean is a forum to improve engagement, communication, coordination, and collaboration between NOAA and partners working in the Caribbean to more effectively and efficiently deliver services. Historically, NOAA in the Caribbean has focused on the United States, but we are working to expand our reach to international partners as well.
We hold Community Group meetings every two months on the third Friday where we invite NOAA and partner speakers to join and speak on their work in the region. Community Group meetings are open to anyone who is interested in hearing more about NOAA's role in the Caribbean. These meetings also serve as a platform to share information, announcements, and updates with other members.
This meeting was held and recorded on January 17, 2025 and featured two presentations and various announcements from the Community Group.
Presentation 1:
Title: Summary of the 2024 Hurricane Season and its impacts in the US Caribbean
Presenter: Ernesto Rodriguez, Meteorologist-In-Charge for the NOAA National Weather Service at the Weather Forecast Office San Juan
Presentation 2:
Title: NOAA Student Opportunities and a Year in Review
Presenter: D'amy Steward, Sea Grant Knauss Fellow and Congressional Affairs Specialist in NOAA's Office of Legislative and Intergovernmental Affairs
