Well done. I've read somewhere that the earliest Greek translation of Genesis (oldest translation we have) adds 100 years to each of Shem's descendants. The result is the generations lifespans make more sense. There was a reason for this regarding Christ's assertion to be the high priest according to Melchizedek. Not sure what to think about it.

I was going to mention this too. It isn't quite possible to have enough people inhabiting the earth only 150 years after Noah. But it makes more sense if there are a few hundred more years after.

Right it's the difference between the text sources. Most modern Bible sources come from the masoretic text circa 1100 AD. The dead sea scrolls, the septugnant, and Josepheus texts add the 100 years for the first 6 generations post flood, and 50 years to Abrams father, so a total of 650 years added to the time between the flood and Abraham.

Imagine being Noah and knowing these floods are going to come and kill your own daughters and begging them and begging them to repent and follow God but the floods come and wash them away while he is safe on a boat but he has to do that to save the Righteous branch of his family so the Lord's church can continue on. Well, we read in Abraham that Aegyptus' son Pharaoh, was a righteous leader and petitioned for the priesthood (Noah cursed them to not have it) but was rejected, and so he modeled his rulership after the manner of the priesthood.

I wonder if Noah had more children but the scriptures don't mention them. It's so weird to think he didn't have ANY children before age 450. If he did have more, how heart wrenching to think that some of your own children were to due in the flood. However, if the account is accurate, it would be a very tender mercy to have Noah wait until the people were ripe in wickedness to have his children so that they would NOT end up in the flood. Side note, it took me a while to figure out what the red part of the graph meant. Maybe go ahead and explain those things before you jump in on other videos for those of us who are slow, lol. 😄 Very good info! Thank you!

So the people build themselves a tower to avoid listening to the prophet at the time. So who weren't they listening to? Noah seems to have taken a backseat in the record and not said much. Was it Melchezidek? Was it Shem? Are they the same person? After all Melchezidek ended up creating a city of peace (Salem) and aspired to the city of Enoch. Some say that Melchezidek, as the priest-king of Salem actually established another Zion and that city fled as well. I agree with the notion that the people were scared after the flood. Does that also mean that fear was the real problem not following the right key holder? They wanted to make it to the top of the mountain without the process God had established to get them there. Since this is primarily an LDS audience I'd say look up 2 Ne 32:3-6 and D&C 93:1.

I think that 1998 Ensign article sums up my thoughts on the tower. It's a false temple based closely upon doctrine, or at least the manual interpretation of it. We have temples today to gather scattered Israel, so it serves to reason that they might have understood that a temple would prevent them from being scattered. LIkewise, when the house of Israel and Jews were scattered, their temple was destroyed too. I wonder if this also serves as a cautionary tale to those who would try and accelerate the 2nd Coming? Bottom line would be to just follow the prophet when he speaks since he has the authority.

I think we need to be watchers of the second coming. I don’t think the prophet will make a general announcement. The spirit will come to us individually to gather. As much I’d like a leader to come take me by the hand, I don’t think it works that way.

Other Mormon groups like the FLDS and RLDS have been doing this for generations. Why would this be a concern? How can "fake" temple ceremonies cause any harm if they don't have valid priesthood? Are you concerned that the very existence of these offshoot sects with their "counterfeit" temple ceremonies with somehow bring down the wrath of God? On who? The people practicing them or the country as a whole? And what do you propose should be done about these fake temple ceremonies? Curtail these other Mormon offshoots ability to practice their religion as they see fit?

Hi. Long time watcher. Thank you for your time and efforts here. I have two things on my mind. Both perhaps a little silly I suppose, but I wonder if there's teachings either for, against, or opposing. First one is, does the devil ever tell the truth? Being the father of lies, how can one interpret his words when recorded in scripture, or quotes in the temple? Am I to abandon my knowledge that he is a lier, or do I listen with a grain of salt that perhaps he is not telling the truth? In a way this is perplexing and significant. As we know in the garden of eden, he convinces eve to sin by telling her there is no other way. He basically says that it is necessary to sin and only through sin can our eyes by opened and become wise, as thats what the father did. My argument is that is bullhonkey. If that were true then thered be no benefit in learning the commandments and keeping them, if the lesson can only be learned via actually committing the sin. Wisdom is to be conveyed and accepted. Also, God was returning to visit and teach them when He found them hiding with fig leaves and instead kicked them out; so unfortunately we do not know what was about to be taught. With the devils involvement, I would assume they were about to learn of ways to increase in wisdom and righteousness while still abstaining from sin? We don't know. Seeing that the devils main mistake here was giving them the fruit which had been done on other worlds, which was not his place to give, he was punished, for it was not his right to do so. Regardless, his statement that there is no other way bothers me and feels like a half truth. Number two. When God questioned them, He did not congratulate Adam and eve on being so smart and wise in sinning. Eve even admits that the servant beguiled her, meaning he irresistibly deceived her. However there seems to be a recent push in woman impowerment almost, to praise eve for her choice in being so wise in making the decision Adam would not. Her sin is presented in church meetings as some amazing brave thing.... but God didn't praise her, He humbled her that she is to listen to Adam as he listens to God. But instead its being presented nowadays as an act to be looked upon in admiration. This idea goes against everything else I know. So, is the devil a lier? Did eve sin? My traditional mind says that if its in the endowment then its true. However my skeptical mind says, yes it is true that the devil is saying it, and he's a lier..... and eve said he beguiled her, so.......? I do hope I haven't scared you away! I love this gospel and respect and reverence the Lord. I didn't get these ideas from some where else, but from myself while in the temple. Many many things became clearer to me when this came to me, but other question arose as well. Take care, Herb.

When I was in young women's group as a teen, we were taught that the devil will tell 99 truths to cover ONE miserable engulfing lie. So yeah, he knows how to lull people into a false sense of security while using those familiar truths known to our spirits (which are "veiled" from our minds.) Also, Eve was beguiled, but if she hadn't been, we wouldn't be HAVING this conversation because she said "We would never have had seed." So she's not "hailed a hero for BREAKING the commandments," but for having the COURAGE to walk PAST her transgression, repent, and move forward in obedience to God our Father and Jesus Christ. THERE'S your context, and I hope you have a SUPER BLESSED day 🙏🏼🫂💞🕊🤍🕊

I definitely think Satan can tell the truth. That's what makes lies sound true... it's a half truth. As for the sin, I recently read Jodi Stoddard saying that Eve wasn't ever told not to partake. I haven't looked into it, but that was an interesting thought.
@Sablespartan
@Sablespartan Жыл бұрын
I had this same thought also given to me during my endowment at the temple. I wrote it down and share it with you now. When Lucifer tempted Eve, she asked him if there was no other way. It was Lucifer who told her there was no other way but his way. For the longest time, I have struggled with the idea that Elohim gave two conflicting commandments. To replenish the earth and to not partake of the fruit. I think that there was another way. The spirit confirmed this to me, and it makes so much sense. Elohim said to Jehovah that if they eat, then they will need to be redeemed. If implies that there was another option. Throughout the whole session was the principle of line upon line, precept upon precept. This is God's way. Lucifer's way was to skip all the steps and just take the prize. God has backup plans. If we mess up, he has a plan to help us get back. Adam and Eve were tested in Eden, and I believe they would have received additional instructions had they not chosen to partake of the fruit.
@Sablespartan

Also, no. Satan can not tell the truth. Half truths, yes, but not full truth. That which entices and inviteth to do good is of God. Full truth can only come from God.

There is no official doctrine in the LDS church about the location of any of these places EXCEPT the Garden of Eden which, according to Joseph Smith, is located in Jackson County Missouri. In reality, however, none of these places ever existed. There may have been places that inspired the myths that became the biblical accounts of these places, such as a particularly large zigguraut in ancient Mesopotamia inspiring the idea of the Tower of Babel, but they are simply stories that came about by the syncretation of the Jewish tradition with Persian myth and other local legends. The jewish religion and Old Testament would have ended up a lot different if they hadn't borrowed a bunch of ideas from the Zoroastrian faith during the Babylonian captivity.

The English word "Earth' that is found in the KJV (and other English versions of the Old Testament) fails to translate the Hebrew word accurately, which word is: eretz. This Hebrew word eretz, means LAND. Moreover, we have been conditioned for over four hundred years to conclude that "Earth" means: an oblate spheriod in space; a planet 🌏 ; which is not what the Bible writers had in mind.

Can you site the reference where you found when the Tower of Babel was built. It had to have been after peleg because the jaridites who left babel sailed across the ocean to the americas which the splitting of the Continents didn’t happen until the days of peleg. Unless you mean the tower was started where you placed your marker and then they worked on it for yrs gen 10:25… they will be brought backing together when Christ returns to his temple. D&C133:24

The word Ensign, has several meanings. Like when you put up a flag to make a statement. It is to represent a certain standard. And in the LDS faith the word Ensign means to me , A person who represents a standard or a standard bearer!

So what was it like before the Flood? Every depiction of Noah, I have ever seen of him has been that he was some kind of tribal shaman of primitive like people, cave men and hunter gatherers. That is so far from the truth. The truth is that Noah, being a direct descendant of Adam was like the king of the earth. He was the Patriarch and everybody knew who he was. Another true is that before the flood, the people were very highly advanced. They had anti gravity technology, electrical, and genetic technology and space technology. Now the government of God, is patriarchal but we read in the book of Ether about how the government of God had been replaced before the flood by secret combinations, a government inspired by the devil. From the time of Enoch until the flood, as many of the sons and daughters of Adam's lineage were sanctified, they were being taken up into heaven to the city of Enoch, so that by the time of the flood, the only people remaining on the earth were the godless people who followed the leaders of the new world order of the devil. So Noah was preaching about a flood and some godless scientists looked into his prediction and was there was a threat, and they built space ships, just in case, there should be a flood. When they saw an asteroid headed towards the earth, they took their cue to skidoo and left the earth to remain in space until the flood should be over and it was save to come back. Now contrary to what we read in the Bible, Noah and his family were not the only survivors. From Noah's point of view, they were the only survivors because he saw the mountain tops covered by water, but remember, Adam's land was in north America and the highest mountain were the Appalachians which are not very tall mountains. He built the ark on the Missouri river and it floated down the Missouri on down the Mississippi and out into the gulf and was probably well into the Atlantic before the wave created by the asteroid covered the mountain tops. Suffice it to say the flood was great enough to completely cover the northern Hemisphere to fill the Mediterranean basin and China. Noah's family were not the only survivors. The Africans have a tradition of going into the Sahara until the sands of the Sahara swallowed up the water. The Chinese have a tradition of going into the Himalayas until the water could not reach them any more. There are other flood traditions. Besides those who fled the earth in space ships, there were those who built submersible ships to survive on the ocean. When Noah was told to build the ark, he was told to take animals, but something that got edited out of the Bible was an important phrase, Animals that are useful to man, in other words, domestic animals. God had other ways to save the wild animals. Now going to the story of the tower of Babel, after the flood some of those people who had escaped into space came back down and just happened to come down near to Babel and met the People there. They came down as gods with their advance technology and convinced the king of Babel to follow their ways. They were called the Annunaki. When Noah found out about what was going on, he went and cursed the space people and told them to stay away or suffer the wrath of God. Unfortunately, the damage had been done and the king of Babel called upon the people to built launch towers to get into space, were there gods were. The Annunaki also taught the king the government like before the flood and taught them not to follow the ways of God. The new style of government created division among the people and so, in the days of Peleg, The fathers got together and divided the land. Japhath and his family were given the land north of the Mediterranean. Ham was given south of the Mediterranean and Shem would have all the land from the eastern shore of the Mediterranean to the mountains in the east.

I like your videos very much. However 80 years between the flood & tower of Babel is mathematically IMPOSSIBLE. Watch the KZbin vid: Were the pyramids built before the flood? (Masoretic text vs original Hebrew). 80 years is simply not enough time for 8 people to have enough offspring to build the tower of Babel. Our biblical timeline is wrong. We date the jaredites to 2000 BC, but they are more likely to be closer to 2650 BC. We are basing that on an incorrect biblical timeline. "We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly." Will you simply need to correct the biblical timeline.

Advertising Joseph Smith's book, are you trying to introduce Mormon's religions to the world. No thank you. I am baptist and My ex husband reads Mormon book, He was president of his church. He's tried to twist my head with his mormon bible, his bible sounded more like a cult than a man chasing after God.

I will instantly become a Mormon if you show me archeological evidence (ruins) of the BOM Lands of Zarahemla and Bountiful. ALSO the archeological evidence (remains) of the tens of thousands of dead soldiers armed with metal spears and swords scattered around Hill Cummorah as described in the BOM would make me a convert as well. And The Gold Plates revealed by the Angel Moroni should be shared with the World and not hidden. As Jesus said: "I spake openly to the world; I ever taught in the synagogue, and in the temple, whither the Jews always resort; and in secret have I said nothing." John 18:20

I understand why you might approach joining the church in this way. Theres a fine line to be considered however. Although it is important to be well informed and educated, its more important to learn to hear the Spirit in discerning truth and direction. Becoming LDS is in no way an educated decision on its own without faith. Many believe and feel the peace associated with the truth taught here, knowing that its ok to not know all things, join, and embark on a life long journey of searching, learning, and honing their spiritual ears to gods teachings. They forget themselves for just a moment and ask God if this stuff is right. Thats one amazing thing about this gospel that I absolutely love, that we don't seek to convince through physical evidence or arguments, but rather spiritual evidence and enlightenment. We say, don't ask us, ask God, it has to be between you and Him that you obtain your answer to know if something is right or not. We believe with all our hearts from our own experiences that you can receive an answer, completely disconnected from any influence on our part. We don't need to entertain you or wow you ourselves, we don't need to talk you into it. We don't want to! We know the personal power that comes from having God be the one you get your answers from! I know, it may seem foreign at first, not the typical way most people do things or the way you expected. But this is the best way and the only way that lasts and matters. You want to know about God, learn all you can, then ask God if it right. He will answer, but you have to be listening without reservation. Personally, aside from my own personal testimony, this church honestly is the only one that actually makes sense to me. God hasn't left us, there's still a prophet today as in old, and he's still being rejected today just like they were in old times too. Same world. Same God. Same ways. Same stubborn people.

Also, in a very real way, what you are saying is the same thing as saying "show me the tablets of the 10 commandments before ill believe" "show me all the original manuscripts of the Bible written by the prophets own hands before ill believe" "show me Jesus cross and nails" "show me the coat of many colors" etc etc etc...... There will always be something lurking to instill physical doubt. Christ's gospel is one of the spirit, revelation and faith.

@@herbmason3204 I admire the Mormon people immensely. Hard working, giving, charitable, devout, committed. And what I most find admirable is their commitment to their youth. They actually give time and resources to educate their youth - i.e. High School Seminary Training, Youth Summer Camps, Families sitting down together and reading scriptures. However I remember when I was in Turkey in the Fall of 1988. I visited the city of Tarsus where Paul was from. I got out my bible and I was awestruck that I was in the ACTUAL city where Paul the great Apostle actually lived and worked. I never forgot the feeling I had that Bible History is absolutely True and verifiable in a real world setting. I will not go on to bore you with the Tours of the Cities of Asia Minor mentioned in Revelation. Ephesus was amazing. Remember the Apostles encounter in the Book of Acts with the Silversmiths of Ephesus? I feel bad that Mormons cannot have that sort of experience with the BOM. I am from Kentucky and we have hundreds of Mounds built by Ancient Native peoples. I honestly wish that someone would bring forth with Authority PROOF that these structures were built by Pre-Columbian Ancient Israelite peoples. It would knock the Evolutionists on their backsides.

@@herbmason3204 With all due respect I think you are making a fallacious analogy and building a very flimsy straw man argument. As Bible Believing Christians we HAVE Ancient Biblical manuscripts we can see, touch and read: Dead Sea Scrolls - Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek c. 150 BCE - 70 CE (fragments) There are over 5,800 complete or fragmented Greek manuscripts, 10,000 Latin manuscripts and 9,300 manuscripts in various other ancient languages, such as Syriac, Slavic, Gothic, Ethiopic, Coptic and Armenian. Along with Codex Vaticanus, the Codex Sinaiticus is considered one of the most valuable manuscripts available, as it is one of the oldest and likely closer to the original text of the Greek New Testament.

@@mikemanners1069 that does sound amazing! I've never been over there. I do agree, it would be so neat. For example we do visit and reverence historical church sites, and it would be so humbling to walk in so many areas described in the book of Mormon, to actually be there! I am not a good reference on the subject, perhaps our friend here on KZbin has light to shed, but I know theres certain things that have been found. Specific land constructions and layouts. But I know what you mean by having someone with authority actually declare it. For example if you want to go down an interesting rabbit hole, look into Hopi Indians, more specifically the story of their bow and arrow of peace. It represents a time when their ancestors made a commitment to no longer war, but be a peaceful people, the white handgrip representing this and their ancestors burying their weapons in their commitment. Hopi meaning peace. Now go and read in the book of Mormon about the people of ammon, the Anti-Nephi-Lehis (Joseph Smiths translation at the time of their name, which in simpler terms, means peace). Then read how they too, buried their weapons of war in a commitment of peace to God, and the impact it had on their enemies. Its quite amazing. Ruins, correlations, and examples exist, but its left to the spirit to be our guide in revelation, that when we hear it or see it, we know. I'm impressed by your commitment in searching and seeing through the fog so to speak. Few do.

Really enjoyed this. Thank you for it. Joseph Smith Jr and Christ spoke about desires to translate in Joseph’s time the apocrypha. Jesus pretty much told Him don’t worry about it. There’s lots of truth and those who have the Holy Ghost will be able to Study the books and know what is the truth. Recently I’ve listened to audio apocrypha, book of Enoch, and now the books of Jasher. Dr Glenn Christopher is the one who reads the books. If you haven’t had a chance to review them, I highly encourage you to do so as time permits. There are many truths that fell many gaps from the Bible, and tie very well with our standard works. Although Babylon was physically destroyed, it is spiritually abounding. Soon though it we’ll fall, and our Savior will come back! Love the Parallels and things that you’re sharing thank you!

In genesis 6, when the “sons of God” saw the daughters of men and produced the nephilim (the giants), isn’t it talking about the elohim that rebelled against God and took human wives for themselves? That’s why the procreation produced giants instead of humans? These things coming from the Dead Sea scrolls.

The whole thing about reaching to heaven, I was thinking about temple ceremony where maybe they were thinking to do their own thing to go to heaven. Just because we dont see any proof of it existence like the pyramids.
