trigger warning! When I was raped at 13, I questioned my gender identity for a while. I even went through a period of identifying as a guy because I felt like that was who I truly was. I got confused and my PTSD was at an all-time high. I attempted suicide and was hospitalized, my PTSD was actually treated and I realized that I just felt that I would feel safer as a man. It would be less likely for me to be raped again if I had a penis. I've successfully gone through a PTSD-specific treatment for everything I've gone through, and I have come to understand that it's common for girls who are raped to question their identity. I'm glad I realized who I really am and that it's okay to feel the way I did.

Trisha seems to be falling into the same boat as a lot of us (myself included) who have had a phase of "not like the other girls" because I thought that to be less like other women would make me more valuable, because society has favored men for AGES. And now I know that in order to get past that deeply rooted misogyny, it's important to lift other women up. Being "not like other girls" doesn't make me better. There is no one way to be a girl anyway.
