Killing him was the better ending in my opinion. It's much more impactful than sparing him. The "good ending feels a little anticlimactic to me imo

I'm starting to think so too. The way Jin speaks to Shimura when he walks off as the ghost implies that he no longer has respect for the tradition he once followed and he willingly left behind everything for his own motives to victory over the Mongols. Focused on his goals, yet unsympathetic even with his family. He advanced in mentality over the hubris of the Samurai tradition, at the cost of his reputation and alignment with them for compromising their way. The "bad" ending to most is actually considered the good ending for the simple idea that Jin could put in a final act of love for both a master and father who raised him with the tradition that kept him alive to that very moment. Now he must leave the life he once knew. It was painful, but in the end he gave his uncle a final moment where despite his situation Jin knew that he would be at peace this way, not left in dishonor from those who previously respected him. Not to mention the practice of seppuku that would surely follow as a result. The least Jin could do was prevent that suffering before his end. As Shimura stated "This is not revenge. This is my punishment." As you can tell, I love this game so much it's my GOTY and really is the one good thing I know to come out of 2020, which is a feat in itself. Even tho this sounds really stupid, if this game doesn't win Game of the Year, something is clearly wrong with the world.

@@kevinrembert888 Thanks, it's what happens when you sit and calmly think of the message everything portrays. You could say both endings are canon in the sense that the Ghost will still proceed onward. It's the way he parts with his previous livelihood that determines his handling of that change.

@@ECH0-UN1T idk I think there should be a sequel and the start of it should take place 20+ years later and his uncle has a son but Lord Shimura is on his deathbed and Jin shows up. Thatd be a great way to start a sequel I think.

Its pointless having a so called "explorer gear " simply because you haven't even unlocked a single exploration perk. In fact theres been no exploration in this entire playthrough. Just journeys to goals or fast travelling. That's why so much of the different areas of the map are still foggy.
