With every home that's demolished, so go memories of another time. I love houses from the 1920s and 30s. Asbestos and lead paint were commonly used in construction prior to 1978.

We are such a wasteful society anymore. I was brought up to use what we had and reuse anything that was found that could be recycled. Buttons got saved from old clothes, old clothes were made into quilts or rags. When we had to do work on our 1884 year old house, we saved and reused everything we could. There is so much beauty in this house that could be used for the future projects, but it would have been nice to have seen this house restored to it's original beauty, and lived in. What is new now does not have the craftsman touches or the pride of workmanship that was put into this house. So sad to see it go.....

This TOUR was SO VERY ENJOYABLE…. And for what ever reason I had a sentimental feeling mixed with that unfortunate feeling knowing it will be demolished…. If i put myself in the position to afford this type of home it would definitely be one LIKE THIS FROM THIS bygone era rather than these bland new builds with less than desirable character … It’s just painful to know that the craftsman of this era for the most part are no longer around and NOT MANY PEOPLE INTERESTED IN SAVING THESE PLACES .. We are losing TOO MANY OF THEM

I'm in my early 60s and retired at age 53. A lot of people opposed me because they didn't get the concept of not working if it wasn't necessary. I thought of myself as living in stages. I've put a lot of effort into getting to where I am now, but in these final years, I owe it to myself to "stop and smell the roses." I fled the country once I retired and am currently living in Latin America. I was able to unwind in my new environment and get away from all the negative events occurring in America. So far, I have not met anyone who regrets retiring.
@MirandaLambert-j6l
@MirandaLambert-j6l Ай бұрын
Nice way to retire. For me, I believe retirees who struggle to meet their basic needs are the ones who could not accumulate enough money during their active years to meet their needs. Retirement choices determine a lot of things. My wife and I both spent same number of years in the civil service, she invested through a wealth manager and myself through the 401k. We both still earning after our retirement fund has grown way more than it would have with just the 401(k). Haha.

The basement room with all the pipes overhead, that room was the Boiler room and all the pipes went to the radiators throughout the mansion. The boiler was missing along with the overhead oil tank you had pointed out. Sad to see places like this being destroyed to make way for crap houses that only have about 10% of the craftsmanship and details. Someone messed up, easy 300K of architectural salvage, could have and should have had an auction prior to demo..🤡 Thanks for preserving this gem to video! Edit; ....Subscribed!😁👍

Beautiful period style house. In the UK this house would have a preservation order on it. I can only imagine how beautiful the whole place was with all the mature trees around it. The lovely coloured stain glass window in the porch are mounted in led very old style. The green house had automatic openers for when it got hot and steamy. I can see problem with the giant chimney it seems to be retaining moisture at the top. A rockery by that little round patio with seats next to the pool house. That big tree is a beach tree beautiful specimen, around the tree are flower beds with shrubs lots of stone probably alpine plants were grown. The craftmanship for all these detailed wood work does not exist any more. The wood could possibly be stained cherry because cherry wood has a velour no matter how much you sand it it varies in colour. What a beautiful old mansion sad to see it demolished. Thanks Noah another great video.

it's so heartbreaking to know it's getting knocked down especially after seeing it's overall condition.. It looks like someone moved out of it yesterday.. The paints hardly even cracked or peeling at all on any of the walls.. The carpets look vacuumed.. The real hardwood floors still shine.. I could see knocking it down if it was abandoned for decades and stuff was falling apart and caving in, broken windows, mold and stuff like that.... But it's in immaculate shape and to know it'll all be gone is just sad.. I love the style on the backside of the house too where the patio was.. Like an old European style house.. Old Victorian windows.. Stuff you'll never see be relevant in architecture design ever again.. Also it was cool to see it had a walk-in fridge in the basement..

Would they ever allow contractors (bond/License) to re-claim any great salvageable material? So many bathrooms with perfect tile, so much woodworking, newel post, etc. As an artist that comes from a family of brilliant workers and creators of big custom metal wrought iron works (and some strong enclosures for an actress who had very large cats) it hurts me to see how any reasonable piece cannot be re-used. This artisanship is gone. Maybe people will wake up and have a free for all, safely, it is possible.
