That is AWESOME! I never knew all of this, about cotton. I knew some...but not this much. Amazing! I'd love to know who discovered cotton, in the first place. How did they know not to eat it, but to turn it into clothing. Eli Whitney would be proud, his invention grew so big & productive. God truly gave us ALL plants for food, clothing, medications! God takes care of us, for sure! Thank you!

@@oneshotme ....good grief. You must be a liberal leftist with a loneliness, so bad, that you just have to create BS. Get a REAL education. Scientist & DNA have proven that American "native Americans" are migrants from Central & South America & Mexico. They found that is why the Aztecs, Mayans, and Incans, all disappeared. They migrated north, because of WATER, and the increased bad weather changes. ALL American citizens came from somewhere else, as much of America was underneath a GLACIER, which has since, receded. Stop geing an idiot racist, as "natives" were not natives, at all. In addition, most all tribes slaughtered each other over hunting & water territories. Please don't breed. There is enough stupid interbreeding, already. And considering 90% of Indians are alcoholics & refuse true education that they would not have to pay for. Just like some other ethnic groups. America takes in more lazy, fat, and diseased illegals & "migrants" then any other nation. There are WAY too many poverty stricken females who spread their legs, bringing an innocent child in to that poverty. Those sluts cannot care for themselves, so they bring in a child that they cannot care for? How STUPID. Mandatory sterilization for ALL illegals & mexicans who want to come to America. No more welfare, they'd stop coming.

By 1500, cotton was known generally throughout the world. Cotton seed are believed to have been planted in Florida in 1556 and in Virginia in 1607. By 1616, colonists were growing cotton along the James River in Virginia. When I was a kid in Texas during the summer I worked in a Lumos cotton gin, taking samples with a skill saw and a knife blade. When man handled those 500 lb.. bales with hooks. Loaded 12 bales on a wagon pulled by a IH tractor that must had been built in the 30's. This was 1962 , we worked 12 hour shifts and got pid 1.10 an hour. When I was 12 or 13 we picked cotton by hand, there was no mechanized cotton combines that I ever say. I pulled a 10 yard cotton sack down the row picking by hand and I tall you thsoe cotton huxks would slice your hands like a razor blade.

by that time cotton harvesting combines have been invented. But cotton picked by hands is considered as high quality and goes for nitrocellulose to make gun powder, money currency and etc. We, 3 world countries still pick cotton by hands. 😭Hello from Turkmenistan 👋

@@musaturkiman413 I feel for those people that pick cotton by hand. Its back breaking work and your hands really take a beating. Yes there were cotton pickers by the 1960's, but where I was raised the farmers could not afford then. They used high school kids that needed the money and Mexican migrant workers to pick cotton until 1968.

A brilliant educational video. I am always fascinated by the machines, the vehicles and the manufacturing processing. All of those that go into the eventual product. A mere T-shirt or cotton bud.
