As someone who works in Aged Care & has illnesses with memory in the family. Veritistrasz, he also gives an insight as to what can be going on in the mind of someone with Alzheimer's & similar illnesses. Being able to remember somethings if not everything, but not their name, but not who they are. Just, blackness where that information should be. Knowing you should know, but it's just not there. No matter how hard you try to remember, determined that you should know this. But nothing.

Veritistraza's story also is slightly altered for some races, certainly for Nightelf and Worgen, as he acknowledges their losses of their homes, great touch that adds to the lovely story.
@pintea_viteazul Жыл бұрын
He has special dialogue for a lot of races actually. If you're a blood or void elf he mentions Arthas and Silvermoon, for Draenei he talks about Argus, for gnomes Gnomeregan, orcs Draenor, and for the rest he acknowledges that there is enough war for us to know how it feels. Such cool details for such an amazing quest.

Veritistrasz story arc should've been voiced to better show the emotion in the tale he was telling. That would've made it hit and hurt 10 times harder
@90VYD Жыл бұрын
I disagree. Reading it with the internal voice is more relateable and tragic.
@Soleiletsplay Жыл бұрын
I think it's good to add in more of these timed dialogue things that are unvoiced. Needing everything to be voice acted leads to the game having less of these moments, as it takes more direction and dev time. Them simply being written and doing a scripted thing means devs can just drop them in everywhere.

Dragonflight has made me cry a lot so far. And not tears of sadness, but happiness. For me so far it's the best expansion since legion. And I love seeing WoW youtubers such as you and Nixxiom for example loving the expac so far. From my perspective, this is what wow is about. Fantasy, simple yet captivating storylines, beautiful locations, music, the feeling of being just one of many random heroes helping, not being some prophesized beings that the fate of all the cosmos depends on them... The profession revamp, the dungeons, cinematics. Dang it, I am crying again as I am writing this. During Shadowlands, I was so desperately trying to find something that I liked, I tried to defend WoW... But deep down I knew that SL was... well... bad. Terrible. I didn't want WoW to be over. I have been playin since I was 11. I met amazing people. I improved at english since it's not my native language. It's not just a videogame for me. And just the thought of it all being destroyed by Shadowlands... But this... This is saving WoW. I told everyone I am optimistic about DF and I still am.

I had to step away and cry after I did the Veritistrasz quest. I foolishly had thought "ah a chill sit and listen quest. Easy EXP!" I was so wrong. And then I cried again when I tried to tell my wife why I was crying and I said "HE COULDN"T REMEMBER HER NAME." Then I found the diary. But then I also then found the Duroz & Kolgar. When I got the 2nd part of that quest and I was crying again, my wife asked if I should be playing WoW since it's clearly wrecking me. Honestly though, in my opinion, that one quest chain handled the theme of death better than the whole last expansion. The side quests are knocking it out of the park in Dragon Flight

I like the story of little Tuskar we're supposed to be looking for. His parents have died and he is standing in front of a cave near Iskaara There is said to be a "monster" in the cave that he wants to fight. We go in first and fight the "monster "and see that it is quite peaceful. Then the little one comes in and the "monster" pretends to be defeated. That's such a beautiful story too.

A story idea for another video is all the side characters from previous xpacs popping up here. Like Fiona and her caravan. We first meet her in a revamped Eastern Plaguelands in Cata. And we catch up with her and friends around Dragonscale Base camp. Or Lasan Skyhorn at Maarukai. It was surprising but it fit where else would the leader of the Highmountain Eagle riders be but here. I was most excited seeing Emmigosa and the other Legion Blues. I pulled out my pet to compare her to this latest model. How she's grown. I wanted to ask Stellagosa how she's been and how Valatois is doing. And Valdrakken is full familiar faces. Though I was surprised Nomi wasn't at the Ruby Feasts instead he's deciding which item to buy from the cheese dragon. Just some friendly faces in a new land.

i did the Theramus - i think thats what he is called, cant recall 100% - quest line, also a small quest chain, in the ohnara plains, he is depressed and lonely, avoiding his life due to his feelings and then you find out why he is feeling like that and help him you gain a wrist cosmetic as a reward, an eternal reminder of him and the two dryads that helped him out, its so cute and ill use it forever because i main a balance druid :) as someone else in the comments said, i wish these were extra storylines were voiced as well because they are such a punch in the heart i would love to see the characters emotions coming to life with voice

Veritistrasz is easily one of my favorite quests in Dragonflight. Just sitting there enjoying the scenery, and talking to this red dragon in dwarf form, is a nice break from the usual questing, and gives more insight into how the dragons view the conflict with the Black Dragonflight. One of the biggest complaints about the story of Cataclysm was all dragon lore was in those books most players never read, and Cataclysm failed to explore the dragons properly, combined with the cop- out ending. Dragonflight is the fist time I truly feel invested in these dragons, besides maybe Ysera and Wrathion. I also think Alexstrasza's new model and expressions help a lot.

What I think makes these side stories hit so much better than, say, Shadowlands, is that they don't try to replace or one-up what happened in the lore before Dragonflight... they're complementary, they CONTINUE on the impact of that part of the story rather than trying to rewrite it.
@ASpaceOstrich Жыл бұрын
Agreed. I love these types of quests and would gladly take entire zones of just this kind of stuff. We've had that before, and they're some of my favourite zones in the game. Was it Eastern Plaguelands? The one where the entire zone is spent traveling with Fiona's caravan and the small party of characters within it?

I seen a few fun little interactions with NPCs and mobs. During one of the quest in which you kill gnolls and try to get the tuskarr totems. There's one gnoll playing fetch with a hyena. And sometimes, the hyena will jump on its hind legs playfully. In an ice cave, the one with Toejam (yeti). Theres a couple of Ottuks laying but with one laying its head on the other in a caring matter. Who knows what other interesting things are out there.

I am still positively suprised how good alot of the sidequests and small stories are. The main story already isn't terrible, I would love to see more from the primalists point of view. There are small things like the line in the raidfight where she compares the Aspects imprisonment of them to the Titans imprisoning the old gods. Seems like a hint that there might be a connection, why else would she know about it? Still, there is some interesting lore in this addon, and I like it alot.

I think it's less the factions as a whole that have been teaming up. And more like random groups of mercenaries who just happen to appreciate the other side more than others. It's the canonical way of explaining how players on both sides can experience the content.
@monkeysk8er33 Жыл бұрын
Well sometimes that's the case. In Dragonflight it's exposition teams, archaeologists, researchers. Even in real life, enemy nations will do this. In Legion however, both the entirety of the Alliance and Horde were focused on one goal, and one goal only: stopping the Burning Legion.
@apacalypsagon3758 Жыл бұрын
@@monkeysk8er33 yeah but in legion they both kinda failed. Not to mention to a lot of the alliance the horde left them to die and cost the life of varian. On the faction wars... I think it is stupid and should probably end. They have stretched Horde vs Alliance for as long as they can. End it and instead make it about the minor factions that is at each others throats. Like Alliance separatists against alliance, Kul Tiran Admirality settling scores, the Gnomregan vs Goblin Cartels Alliance and Horde as groups have no reason to fight one another, but all their minor groups does still have problems. You could have an orc and human team up fighting as mercenaries with the goblin cartels as they wage a proxy war against the cenarian circle to get drilling under the world tree or whatever.
@JamailvanWestering Жыл бұрын
Uhm hate to break it but both sides definitely still have reasons to hate each other.. The massacre of the Night Elven druids of the Cenarion Circle in Ashenvale which coincindentally, Hamuul Runetotem survived.. The sacking of Camp Taraujo Burning of Teldrassil… The bombing of a Night Elven Druid grove in Stonetalon. The jailing and sometimes executions of Sun Reavers authorized by Jaina… There’s ample reason to still be at war with each other. Both sides will never fully forgive each other for all the atrocities
@torylva Жыл бұрын
@@JamailvanWestering And both sides have a lot of reasons to fight with alongside one another. I am not saying they'd be allies, but I am saying that Horde and Alliance as major groups would more likely be at peace while all the sub-factions they have would still fight back and forth. For instance, why would the rest of the Alliance want to go on a massive rage quest against the undead like many night elves revanchists, considering how many undead under Calia Menethil has started up new contact with old friends from before the third war. Why would orcs for instance hate gnomes, except that they fought with their allies. Having alliance and horde still be at each other throat would just make it all feel so stupidly static. Imagine Post-WW2 USA goes back to being at war with Italy after 3 years because "I hate those fascists!"

I know you have to pay lips service to the new power that be, but at least, if you have to insist that we not see what is right in front of our eyes, and that those could be whatever kind of amorphous form we could dare to imagine, can you do it in a more intelligent way and either use the title of the person or the name? Man, I wish blizzard made WotLK same as this back in the days... just imagine if we just had an expansion called New Lands or something like that instead of WotLK but then you arrive to this mysterious island, you play the story, find the clues and then at the very end of the first raid you actually get a cutscene where you hear a strange menacing voice talking to you like "Oh heroes...I've been once like you, I came to this land to seek vengeance...many years have passed since...now I'm the ruler of this land...RULER OF NORTHREND" and we see Lich King for the first time and he uses Frostmourne to push us back from the Utgard Citadel and now we go back and tell our factions whos the big bad of the expansion... I feel Blizzard should really make expansions as vague as possible.
