It's good to win a Nobel Prize for your works, and I'm sure they are beautiful. But you should better aspire to impact human condition positively through your writings.

why does the Nobel Prize set look like something out of an Addams Family movie?

Can adversity add a twist or an edge to curiosity? _Anecdotally, I meet many people, who are less curious than me, they also met less adversity in their lives._ (I am biased, no doubt.) Too much adversity doesn't help you to succeed. What are other things to consider here? (I am no Nobel Laureate.)

Interesting is fact, that Tokarczuk is very politicaly active after she got Nobel Prize. Her writing is nothing special, nothing extraordinary. There are many writers like her in the World. But she definitely using this "award" to spread hate around the World against democraticaly elected government. In the past, during "pieryestroyka" time communist agent Lech Walesa had received peace Nobel prize. But fact is that he never acted against communists- he acted on behalf of them and with them. There are documents and witnesses proving he was communist secret agent who denounciated his friends to communist's SB (polish KGB). His nikname was "Bolek". I see, that Nobel prize is used as wepon against inconvenient governments, is used as political propaganda. Tokarczuk, is writer....NOT A POLITICIAN. What ever she say in foreign news about political situation in Poland is pure lie. This woman even compare Poland to what is going on today on Belarusia.UNBELIEVEABLE LIE !!! Only for such comparison which is defamatory, pure lie......she suppose to return this award. Unbelieveable what she is doing. She spits lie and hate against milions of Poles who will never agree with her statements. Nobel Commeetee should look into her case and cancell this award. Perhaps she is writer, but not peacfull woman. Not a person who value democracy and freedoms.

This is an absurd thing to be writing in the KZbin comment section, but I will take the troll bait. Firstly this is the Nobel Prize in Literature, not the Nobel Peace Prize. Also, I suspect you are saying this because you are a rabid nationalist who cannot handle even the most mild criticisms of your country or you are just a paid government troll.

Very mediocre writer, a bore.Poles returns her books. There are so many great writers who had never been award with this already disgraced literary Nobel prize like Joseph Conrad but are still read and loved.I had struggled to read "Bieguni" at every level from language to storytelling. To put it simply: shitty novel.
