I have the Nobels mini and love it. I run it on all the time as a boost I run that into a Wampler Triumph and Wampler Phenom in my studio...my portable board I use Boss Blues Driver and DS 1 and GE7 EQ pedals but would put the mini in front of that board from now on. It's a keeper.
@acurabby10 ай бұрын
The Nobels Mini is the new norm of pedals when it comes to size and sound spectrum, yet you can still tweak and adjust from your amp and electric to get that right EQ tube sound saturation. Been using the Mini since it came out and its a great pedal waiting to happen along with the form factor. Kai Tachibana = Genius

Great video. I have both. I think the mini is more versatile, so I put on my board. The Big has too much bass for the neck pickup, but I really love it with vintage tele bridge pickup.

Where was this review when I was trying to compare these same pedals before buying one 2 months ago?! Lol, this was a great comparison of the differences between the original and the mini, best I've job I've seen so far. I chose the mini as well :-). I preferred the tighter bottom end and the metal casing seemed a little more durable on the mini too.

Ah ah That’s why I did it. I bought both and returned the big one , after comparing it.

I'm not sure which version of the ODR-1 you have, but the current version has a bass cut switch in the battery compartment. I would have been nice to have it on top, but I guess the thinking is you would use one setting or the other, based on the guitar. (I.e. single coil or humbucker)
@BuddaGuedes2 жыл бұрын
I had the previous version without the bass cut. It’s also useful for an amp on the edge of breakup
@myguitarsandme2 жыл бұрын
@@BuddaGuedes I tried both today. I preferred the ODR mini. In my opinion, the bass cut switch was too drastic. The bass cut made it sound thin as opposed to just tightening the bottom end, but maybe it records well. That's the problem with listening in isolation. In the end, I didn't buy either of them. I ponied up the extra dough for a Greer Lightspeed. It handles the low end and retains the sparkle of the high end without sounding harsh or brittle. It was more than twice the price, but in the grand scheme of things, it's worth it... IMHO.

Ola Budda!

Now that you've had it for a while, how do you feel about it? Is it one of your most used overdrives? I have a mini on order, if I like it I might just get the ODR-1 as well and use one as a solo boost for the other.

There's bits and pieces in the beginning that sound a little bit like GVF. Pretty dope if you ask me... The big one looks cooler, has less mid range and the top-mounted jacks, but the mini has less bass and smaller print... Guess I'll go with the better deal available at the time. Really need one of these so I can retire my keeley-modded TS... Cheers

Budda ... can you advice a OD pedal that everyone MUST have ... e não o teu favorito ... mas antes o “canivete suíço” dos pedais overdrive ... o “pau para toda a obra” eheheh ... obrigado!
@BuddaGuedes5 жыл бұрын
acrobata that’s a great question but very hard to answer. I would always advise a double drive, so you can have 4 settings (one side, other side, both on, both off). In that line of thought I would go either with the king of tone, or the z vex box of rock, or the Xotic AC RC or the Hudson electronics Broadcast If you don’t want a double pedal, the Vermuran Jan Ray or the Timmy, are incredible options. They can do a lot by messing with the controls.

if you don.t have a buffer on your pedal board don't get the odr1 you will be sorry it will ruin your tone get the odr1 mini its true bypass wont degrade your tone if you use buffers on your board then the odr1 will be the one for you and another thing this guy dont know what he is talking about they both sound the same I HAVE BOTH but selling the odr1 because the buffer and keeping the mini like I said they both sound the same with some tweeking this guy dont know what he is talking about same insides in both pedals just the mini is true bypass and all the session player mod the odr1 they make it true bypass because they dont like the buffer in them thats why noble came out with the mini

It depends on if Nobels actually made some changes to the circuit or not. Some of the difference he could be hearing is due to parts tolerance, although it seems like the original has quite a different eq curve. I'm sure freestompboxes would know.
