Congratulations on starting your final project on your Make 9 board. That’s exciting. Love the scrappy Christmas blanket . That is so fun and will be such cool thing to have when it’s done. I needed a little break from making garments so I started the Zorzal shawl which is also just garter stitch, so that’s been fun and easy. Love the bowl covers you made and will have to make some. Have a great couple of weeks.

I love the bowl cozies! I've seen some sewn versions but I never even thought of looking at crochet/knit ones. I definitely need to make a few of those. I was part of the test knit for the Hiraeth shawl. It's been a while, but I remember it being a very lovely knit. I used mine so much the last couple of winters! I would wrap it around myself to wear inside or underneath my coat when I went out and it kept me so cozy and warm.

Hi Emily! The bowl covers were fun & practical. I love making things we actually use! I’m so excited for the Hiraeth shawl. I’ve been wanting it for so long & am really enjoying the process of making it as well. 💕

Hi! Thank you again for another inspiring podcast, as always. I love ALL of your projects! Your Slanting Slip-on is so cute. As for your Color Splash Tee, I would say to do the mattress stitch but use a regular sewing thread-maybe doubled. I know that sounds weird, but I made a Knit Collage (pieced) sweater years ago out of super bulky yarn and that is what they called for to sew the pieces together with mattress stitch. I didn't think it would work, being such a different weight thread, but it really did well and the thread was so small, it didn't show at all. I don't think you'll have the problem with it breaking when you pull to close up your seams because it's so smooth. Good luck and thanks again for your positive, uplifting spirit!

Your episode is a true inspiration, as always! An idea for your seaming - perhaps doing a crochet running chain after you’ve seamed the top. This will hide the seam, and at the same time give it some textured interest. Best of luck! The top is going to turn out really cute! ❤

I like that idea too. Otherwise, you are right in thinking to use a different yarn to seam up the sides. You are not the 1st person I have heard having trouble with sewing with cotton. It is a real cute idea for a summer sweater though. Good luck. ❤

I haven’t made a garment in cotton, but I do watch podcasters who do and they recommend using a non cotton yarn to join. It won’t break when you pull and it will give the side seams some strength.

I recently tried the alternating cable cast on and had the same issue keeping track of where I was as you mentioned. The project that I was working on was a hat, so there were far less stitches to cast on than the project that you are working on. I did find that it was worth the effort because the cast on edge looks much like a tubular cast on.

Hi Amy thanks for another great podcast. For the side seam try using a half stitch from either side so they match up as one full stich on the outside. You could also try in conjunction with some of the thread suggestions as well. I usually seam with a significantly smaller yarn/thread. I am not great/greatly dislike seaming and these are my go methods.

Hello Amy, I’m not sure how you would feel about this but, sewing the sides with invisible thread is my first thought. It would look really clean and neat. Love all the projects as always and wanted to say that I appreciate that you put pattern names on the screen for us. Makes life easier for us, but not for you. Thank you!

Amy, I Always look forward to your video popping up in my notifications!🥰 Your Faith blanket IS gorgeous! I absolutely love the mixed stitch blankets. I am hooked on The Stitch Sampler Lace and Bobbles throw by Jean Holzman . Each one turns out completely different. And I love your scrappy Christmas blanket it is also Fabulous! I wish I could get past it being a circle-- I guess I am just stuck😑 --but I think the pattern is so pretty. Thank you for sharing, God Bless you.💞

Hi Amy. I love your bowl cozies, that is a really great idea. The little handles may not be necessary but certainly would be helpful. It looks like you’ve gotten a lot of advice about seaming, but if you’re still having trouble, maybe we can figure it out together.

Thank you so much, Michelle! Thankfully, the advise I was given here was so helpful & I was able to seam the top. I’m so happy with how it turned out! Thank you so much for your offer though. We should just get together to knit & chat sometime! ☺💖

Hi Amy! Question for your side seam dilemma: are you seaming a full stitch in? In between the first and second stitch in the row, or are you seaming into the center of the first stitch in the row? Skipping the first stitch and seaming between the first and second could help if you weren't already doing that. Good luck, it's a lovely top!

Hi Stephanie! No, I had been seaming right on the edge. I’ll try going in a stitch. Thank you so much!

Hi Amy! The top you're wearing is very unique. Beautiful color too. The bowls are cute. On your striped top, why don't you work on it in the round with color changes for the front and back accordingly? I've made several of Helen's patterns and they were all amazing.
@noblecharactercrafts

Thank you so much! I decided to make my top flat because I think in order to work in the round I’d have to do intarsia, and I thought that’d be too complicated. 😅

Hi Amy, You always inspire me to make socks but I have been so lazy. Some cool ideas are here; if they don't work for your striped top, consider sewing with invisible thread maybe? Just an idea. Hopefully you can get it to look the way you want. 🙂🥰
