I turn 46 this year and started out with horses when I was about 4 years old because my Dad was a horseman. I lost my Dad exactly 2 years ago, he was only 72. The last trip he made about 6 weeks before he died was to my new ranch and I really felt after he saw me with my horses, he decided "my work here is done" and then he went. I thank him every day for leading me to horses. It's really hard work, sometimes it hurts and it's not the dream everyone thinks it is but the one thing horses give me is a mirror to who I am inside and a metaphorical list of the things I need to work on. We think we're teaching them but actually what they show us about ourselves is the real lesson, if we want to see it. God bless you too and I pray your wish comes true.

I used to think that its funny seeing people say 'shes a nice mover' etc as I used to think that all horses moved nicely. I was wrong. After riding an ex-trotter standardbred that made my butt numb, I've become more aware of the nuances. The spring in their step, the length of their step and depth in their step, all important 😂

It’s never too late! I’ve always loved horses, but didn’t have the means to learn to ride until I was 52. I started taking lessons, then I leased a horse, and now I own a sweet 11 year old gelding. I follow Ryan’s training approach and I’ve learned so much. Still so much to learn!

Hi Ryan! This was a very good training session for this horse, and you did a great job with her. I don’t have horses in my life now, but I have worked with them from my early 20’s to just a couple of years ago at the age of 68. I lost my last horse a couple of years ago to old age and the rigours of his time as a reasonably successful cutting horse. He was 32yo when he passed, and I had him as my friend since he was 10yo, so I felt his loss deeply. I am 70 now and my old bones can no longer respond the way they need to when starting young horses or competing, or just sitting on a good horse for any length of time. Your channel provides me with a lot of pleasure, and I love to watch you work with these horses that need a little help to reach there potential. Your videos take me back to earlier times in my life with horses, and evoke some fond memories, and for that I thank you. Keep up the great work, and greetings from Australia 🇦🇺!

I really like how you get as much background information as possible before working with the horse and then deciding on which is the best approach to use. I was privileged to attend a number of Ray Hunt sessions back in the day, and I appreciate so much your baseline of observing where the horse "is." I watched another guy who (I thought) was into looking for where the horse was "wrong" and "fixing" it. It wasn't forceful, and it was still observing, but it wasn't honoring "the slightest try," like Ray used to say. It's one of those funny life things, that NOT having pre-set expectations invites the "come-along." I hope lots of folks are watching and listening to you!

Ryan helped me train mine and my daughters horse when they were 2 and 3 years old. They have been great horses and are now 18 and 19 years old. They have never strayed from their lessons with Ryan. They don't run away. They respect my space and me mounting them. They are excellent in reining and leg pressure. I have no problems trailering them. I can ride in all terrains, including crossing streams, and then take them to the show arena. I'm glad I invested in his training sessions and it saved me alot of headaches down the road.

This was basically like my horse! Shes now catchable ( by me), can be saddled and bridled, etc. Shes come a long way. Fearful horses basically need to be desensitised and given a lot of love ❤❤❤being fed everyday, having a routine and spending time with them everyday is a must

This is a good example of a mustang who likely had a lot of training done and then was turned out and/or left alone for an extended period of time. They can revert back to "wild" very quickly if not handled regularly, even after the initial gentling process. Great job to everyone involved in giving "Hope" another chance - she appears to have a great mind and now a great future! :)

This takes me back to North Dakota when I saved a mare from abuse. I named her Diamond because she was a diamond in the ruff. After earning each other's trust, she stood pretty good for hoof trimming. It didn't take long to get her weight back on her as she had been tied to a heavy object with a rope around her neck. All she had was very little grass available, no water and just skin and bones. Trust came very quick! She even provided a foal and was a fantastic mother! I'm 60 now and have moved back home to Texas. I miss my little slice of heaven in North Dakota and having horses! Thanks for sharing this video and bringing me back to my horse days!GOD bless!🙏🙏🙏

We live a 17th century thatched cottage which is lovely. Its a rural area but gets overrun with tourists in the Summer.
