Geeze this was a cool episode! Youre always fun to watch and fun to learn from, but this was just fun all around. As a kid, I spent a few summers in the very early 90s raising money for my High School Marching band by working the pitside pizza stand at the Texas Motorplex in Ennis.

That was awesome! I love drag racing. All the racers are quite a unique family with each other. I remember when Antron was racing bikes, he was very competitive on motorcycles. I wonder what made him do the switch from bikes to top fuel? Video never justifies the intensity of top fuel drag racing. Thanks for doing the walk around and interviews. Great video!!

@ridetofood Indeed! Antron and Angelle are hilarious together too. He had to twist her arm hard to try 4 wheels, but she is a natural, just like she was in Pro Stock Motorcycle. I've attended a couple of Indy car races in my life, but the best time I ever had was at an NHRA race. I live in Central New Jersey so from the mid seventies into the eighties and beyond I spent a number of weekends at Raceway Park in Englishtown. For decades, one of the 4 seasonal races were held there, the Summernationals. I've seen many of the legends of the sport. Probably the worst day was the Summernationals in 2008. I took my, then, 16 year daughter to the track. Halfway through the day Scott Kalitta had a massive engine explosion right in front of us. We felt the concussion and heat from it 10 rows up. He crashed into the wall at the end of the track and everything stopped. It took forever to get down and him out of the car. We left and the ambulance passed us, when we got home found out he had died in the crash. Strange thing I was at his first career start at Raceway Park in 1982.

Amazing video. Back in the early 1970's a family friend got involved in Santa Pod raceway in the Uk, which was Europes first drag strip. I spent a lot of fun weekends there and also met people like Dennis Priddle and Clive Skilton. I have photos here of me as a teenager sitting in Clive's car, Second Revolution and in the same visit we saw his new car Revolution 3 which was one of the first rear engined top fuel cars.... happy days. @@WilmerCook Yea well, the cheapest team never wins the super bowl, or the World Series, or the Stanley cup, or the Daytona 500. It's just a completely different perspective working the staging lanes. Especially when 2 of these beasts fire up at the same time. Was an amazing experience. I encourage anyone who is thinking about a career in professional motor sports. Go work at ur local track for a season. U will meet so many great people. Many of ur local bracket races are the true heart of drag racing.

Well Stacy I always thought you were cool but now you’re super c😊😊l . I’ll be 72 next week and since I was about 13 I started riding cycles off road and going to drag races . I saw Don Garlits and TV Tommy Ivo race back then and people like Bill Grumpy Jenkins . I had a cousin whose father was a small Chevy dealer in a small village in the Pocono Mountains in Pa . A nice area for riding motorcycles. My cousin built a 56 Chevy wagon that ran in the C/gas class back then . I in a small helped him build the engine for that car . Such fun memories. I currently live in Phoenix and would often go to the NHRA races here but sadly this was the last year of the race here as the track is closing . Thanks for this great video hopefully some new people will get to go to a race and experience the rush when those nitro cars go down the track and shake the earth and air as they go by .
