🇻🇪 Venezuela, the name conjures images of a country synonymous with economic collapse and violence. But is that reputation deserved or is there another side to the country that the media don't show? Well, despite being nervous for my safety and that of my camera, I flew into Caracas on my own to investigate. Oh, and whilst there of course I had to visit the infamous Petare barrio, known as Venezuela's most dangerous hood. Would I survive? Join me and find out. Vamos a Caracas chamos!
Shout out to ‪@BackpackerBen‬ for accompanying me all the way from Cusco to Colombia and thanks to my chama Lucy for her help with the translations on the trip 🫡

I don't think he ever planned to quit making videos. He said he wouldn't be making them in Russia anymore, for obvious reasons, but I don't recall him ever saying he was going to quit making vids. At this point even if he wanted to quit, that would be a huge gamble. KZbin is his job and how he gets income. Also, his previous business ventures haven't been raging successes, (hint = bankrupt is in the name). Don't get me wrong, he's a very intelligent guy that's been wildly successful (at least on youtube) and could surely find some other outlet if he wanted to. But why would he? No boss, makes his own hours, literally travels for a living, and best of all, has a handful of dudes he can collab with and it benefits all of them. He's not young and he def makes good money doing these vids, he's not going anywhere.

My parents migrated to Venezuela after WWII. They were prisoners in the Dachau, Germany labor camps. My parents barely survived. Long devastating sad story for some other time. My two oldest baby sisters were starved and poisoned. Tens of thousands of children and adults were murdered. We lived in Barquisimeto , Edo. Lara. In the 1950s and 60s, Caracas was a very affluent industrial beautiful place. I remembered vividly when my parents took my siblings and me to Caracas to visit friends. I wondered if they still have the huge Savoy chocolate sign? We noticed in the 60s Venezuela was becoming extremely unstable with constant revolutions so my parents decided to move to the States. I grew up in Eastern Venezuela, particularly Anzoategui. We always had jokes about fish and beaches near Caracas. The beaches in other parts of the coast are better because of population density and the fact that La Guaira (which is state where the beaches you visited) had a massive landslide which damaged the coastline in the 1999 landslide. Of all the talents available to humanity - your’s is a true gift. Those of us imprisoned by shyness and nerves can only sit back and enjoy your adventures. Another great episode - people connecting with people, despite cultural or languages differences. You blend in so naturally and seem to bring out the best in humble people. Your KZbin channel is a “must subscribe”.

Awesome as usual ! Bald does a good job of hiding that he's a bit nervous. Video is like all the other dangerous ones - didn't linger anywhere, loud and friendly with everyone, and confidence. It's so much more real than other youtubers.

Hey Bald, I just wanted to express how happy you just made me. Seeing you in my country after all this years following your content is beyond amazing. I enjoyed watching you go to places I'd never go as a local and have respectful and wholesome conversations with anyone you come across. You may not be Mr beast but sure are one hell of a good man, and hopefully when you come back after learning some more Spanish you can experience much more of this peculiar land. Saludos mi pana, te deseo suerte en todos y cada uno de tus viajes. Como siempre, trataré de no perderme ninguna de tus aventuras 🇻🇪🤝🇬🇧

I love all of B&B's videos. This one, the trip to Venezuela, is very special because it really shows Venezuela as an upbeat, friendly, outgoing people, despite the difficulties caused by circumstances beyond their control. Venezuelans are an amazing people.

Su manera de narrar y mostrar es inigualable Saludos desde Argentina, soy un venezolano que mira a lo lejos como se encuentra su país

My brother is a reporter and spends much of his time covering immigration on the Southern US border, there have been countless Venezuelans he's encountered. They always have a smile on their face and so positive and friendly, even in such tough situations. Amazing video as always.

Yeah they’re probably the criminals who left Petare. Welcome in! Just like the motorcycle lady said, it’s safer because the criminals migrated to other countries.

Of course they are happy, they got released from a venezuelan prison or abandoned their families and they are about to get free health care, and welfare. I'd be f'in happy too.

Hi Ben, It is the first time I see one of your videos, I am a Spanish teacher and one of my students recommended your video to me. I am very glad that you enjoyed being in my country. I wanted to tell you the beaches of La Guaira are not the best, but as you could see, the best thing that Venezuela has is its people. I am available if you want to advance with your Spanish. I hope you come back soon and you can learn more about my beautiful country.
