The commentators really seemed unprofessional, this it boxing...anything can happen at any given moment, just because the Japanese boxer didn't have as much KO's as Kirkland doesn't mean he doesn't have what it takes. Kirkland blamed the ref and said it was a bad call...knowing he should have been more prepared, getting knocked down 3 times from 15 punches that landed in under 2 minutes is embarrassing, no excuses.

I mean, I think it what they were saying was reasonable. They didn't have to belabor the point but still it was what hardcore fans were thinking. They are trying to fill in those watching on TV why they were so shocked to see what they were seeing. It's a surprise when a fighter with 6 KOs in 30 fights blasts through an opponent like Kirkland, who was a 30/1 favorite in this fight IIRC and who was then seen as a promising prospect, in just one round.
@jrayner216796 жыл бұрын
Yo everyone knows Kirkland’s problem had nothing to do with preparation. His problem was his loose baby neck. Seriously had the chin of a toddler that just had three beers. Blessed with that crowd appealing style but was given a glass chaw to level the playing field. Hey needed better defense meaning he should’ve been with Floyd Mathweather working on maybe avoiding some punches instead of eating punches like skittles. Riding a motorcycle without a helmet is just as fun as with a helmet but when you wreck you might want to wear it. I don’t know how Jesus camp didn’t address this issue way back. This wasn’t the first time he reacted like he got hit by Tyson. HBO didn’t do its research obviously.

If you're Japanese and think I messed up, please correct me, the Osaka accent can be a little bit challenging for foreigners. A little food for thought: This is an undefeated Kirkland versus a weak punching guy who put his lights out like this. Canelo (a WAY bigger guy than Ishida) actually struggled against a shit version of Kirkland before finally managing to KO him. Kirkland was ALWAYS chinny but chinnier after this fight; Canelo fought him after and it took multiple flush power shots to finally stop Kirkland. Ishida had never been stopped in his career and is a tough dude. Ishida's only knockout loss is to GGG and it is probably GGG's most brutal one-punch KOs in his career. GGG hits harder than Canelo no question.

I think the fact it was his 3rd fight in 5 weeks and he just came off a war with a tough puncher and was supposed to walk threw this Japanese guy had something to do with it, he wasn't fresh, underestimated his opponent , and ounchvresitsnce went from fighting the Columbian.
