I totally agree with what yall are saying about missable content in RPGs - I've basically become a sort of anti-completionist at this point when it comes to things like CRPGs, I WANT to be able to say things my character would actually say even if it means negative gameplay consequences, missing out on companions or questlines, I want to be able to fail and continue the story and struggle on. My first BG3 character had a certain companion (no spoilers) turn on the party halfway through the game because she didn't trust them, and that sucks but I love it!! It makes the story and the stakes feel so much more real and I love knowing that there are alternate pathways for the next character. Choice and consequence!!

21:20 I'm going to use this opportunity to rant about a relatively unknown game that impressed me on this front as a teenager: Radiata Stories. You know how big plot choices in RPGs are largely illusory, where the branches have to rejoin each other, because otherwise the content devs would have to produce would just balloon in an insane way? Well, that game has you make one (1) major choice, and it forks the entire main plot and world from that point on. Was completely surprised by it in the mid 00s and am still immensely impressed by it now. Is it the best game ever made? No, but it has the Chrono Cross thing of 100+ potential party members, and they all have their own schedules in the world in a full day-night cycle, and that combined with a genuine major plot fork where you miss ~1/3 of the game, no matter what you pick, is just insane to me. Shout out to that weird little gem.

Just beat Citizen Sleeper 2 and it is an amazing game, even better than the first. Definite must play for fans of games like Disco Elysium
