FADE2691 ....Noctua would never make a fan capable of a tornado, the hell are you talking about? Delta. Delta would make a ceiling fan capable of making a F5 tornado in your livingroom. It would also cause instant death by shredding your heart from the high-frequency noise emitted within 20 feet, internal bleeding within 40 feet, and just ruptured ear drums out to 120 feet away from the fan. It would also invert the laws of thermodynamics, and cause air temps to drop below ambient. Extreme performance water cooling fans would settle with having ruptured ear drums, and buy sixteen of the fans, so they could double up on their twin 480 rad loops.

Actually years ago when I didn't know about high CFM fans, I thought these Noctua Industrial PPC fans were expensive at $25-$30. Now I realize that the server fans they sell with similar CFMs (from companies like Sunon and Delta) are also in the $30 range. Except unlike Noctua, they don't come with vibration mounts, fan connectors or anything really. So the Noctuas are actually a bargain at that price, believe it or not.

These Noctua Industrial PPC fans are hands down better than any fan out there. They're water proof (cleaning them in water is better than blowing shit out of them) pretty quiet, very good performance, can withstand a great amount of heat, 3 phase motor design which improves smoothness, vibration and power consumption all at the same time. They're resistant to dust, and built really fucking well. I highly doubt another fan out there has ALL these features combined. These Noctua Industrial PPC fans are all time favorite and I will not buy any other fan besides these. They are definitely worth the price and last a very long time. I don't care if they're black or "poop" brown. I prefer performance over look.

I think it makes more sense to buy these over the regular consumer models. The speed can be dialed down with PWM control to match the standard fans, and they'll be just as quiet. But with the industrial fans you have tons of overclocking potential from all that airflow, especially in push-pull configs with radiators.

I just use 4x 120mm double width SUNON server fans connected straight to the wally through a voltage regulator. I can get from about 900 to over 4.000 rpm. At low speeds they are silent, at high speed you don't hear much noise from the fans, it's just the airflow. Insane airflow.

Worked for a few years building and servicing ruggedized computers, you'd be surprised how hot and wet things can get in that world. Not necessarily rain, but water spills are definitely an issue. We were already using Noctua's normal fans where possible (i.e. customer willing to pay for them and could get by with the lowish RPM), these would have been a godsend for many other situations.

Purchased a single push fan CPU cooler from Noctua, only to discover just how much room i didnt have after installing it. So much so, that i could not install a pull fan due to lack of room. Eventually, i swapped over to water cooling to combat this problem and my Noctua HSF was left by the way side. Upon discovering my new case had empty case fan slots i naturally reached for my Noctua CPU HSF, slipped off the fan and it is now my CPU's entire area exhaust fan. Bitchin'. I was so impressed by the sheer quality of the fan and its versatility, that i now have another Noctua fan in my PSU bay helping to exhaust hot air out the bottom PSU enclosure and i plan to buy another PPC to add to my top exhaust as a trio! Noctua fans rock.

Maybe I'm missing something here - but if you're going to be okay with a loud, high-RPM and high static pressure fan; you should probably just get the Scythe Ultra-Kaze anyways. Plus they don't cost nearly $50 a fan.
@SheepInACart
@SheepInACart 10 жыл бұрын
The advantage here is that these fans have basically the same blade design as the regular Noctua lineup, so thanks to the better PWM amplifier circuit you can still turn these fans down to the same speeds, thus noise, while having the ability to turn them up if you want or need to. That combined with the black means that they are just a upgrade to the regular Noctua fans in all ways bar price, which fairly definitively shows you who they are marketed too...
@SheepInACart
@SheepInACart 10 жыл бұрын
***** I'm no fanboy here, I personally run my Define r4's factory fans, just set the voltage to minimum (5v i think) on the inbuilt 3 fan controller. However the Noctua force fan I put on my H90 (140mm AIO) that runs as a rear exhaust was well worth the $29 dollars I paid for it, and since corsair doesn't make 140mm static pressure optimized quiet series fans, I haven't yet found a fan that I honestly think would have been a better pick. I have also used the PWM splitter, extension cable and even 1 of the 2 types of low noise adapter already in other builds, so I'd have spend close to $10 to buy that lot anyway. Also hooray for a 6 year warranty, that's defiantly a bonus. he other thing I have to say in Noctua's favor is they do sound quieter than the spec sheet tells you, since it is a very low pitch noise they make. So all in all, I may not recommend you spend big dollars to upgrade every fan in your system, but Noctua fans certainly have a use, and while they may not be your best bang for you buck there "force series" fans seem to be fairly good at most things, well made and honestly its worth the extra 15mins worth of your hourly wage to just get a good known brand you know will work in any role without any fuss or excess noise, even if its sat in your parts box or another running PC for 3-4 years.
@LohJiaHung

***** They come with a great 6-year warranty, low-power adapters, and their build quality and efficiency is great. If you think I am a Noctua fanboy, go ahead. Let me just tell you, I have tried many fans in my life. Noctua fans are top of the line, even though they may not last the *longest*, spin the *fastest*, or be the *quietest*, they are one of the only fans that can do *ALL* of them well. So there.

***** I've ran them in the same setup, Prime95 with actually higher room temperature for the Noctuas, and Noctuas outperformed Scythe Gentle Typhoons every time, however only by a few degrees.. That is not to say Gentle Typhoons suck, they are like a slightly downgraded Noctua for less than half the price. My conclusion is: If you want ultimate cooling, the quietest and most efficient system possible with 6-year warranty on fans, with money not being a concern, go for Noctua. If you want great performance, don't need your system to be the coolest or the quietest in the world, and want the best bang-for-your-buck since you don't have *a LOT * of money to spend, then Scythe GTs are indeed agreeably the way to go, IMHO. _I didn't compare other fans with these side by side, so I can't compare these with Corsair fans or Cougar fans or anything._

I had some occational Temperature issues, and I only had slow silent fans. I bough 7 of these Noctua PPC fans, 4x120mm PWM & 3x140mm PWM, for my two radiators and for the back of the case. Then I plugged them into a Swiftech 8 Way PWM Splitter, and plugged the splitter into the CPU fan connector. My pump RPM cable is pluged into the Opt PCU connector. This works great, the computer runs quiet. I used the Asus FanXpert II motherboard software to crank up to 800RPM. My temperatures are actully much better now. And the fans will encrease speeds if the CPU tempes reach 70 degrees celcius. Now I have the backbone I need to keep my system cool when things get hot. :) I can barely hear the fans at 800 rpm. On full load (prime95), my CPU gets maximum 70 degrees. And my i7-4930k is clocked from 3.4 ghz to 4.3ghz. Nice fans. They look good, and not the least, they feel good. There is nice quality to them.

I deal with industrial fans everyday and these dont look like any industrial fan i have seen. Apart from ppc they are just marketed at consumer than anything else. I do admit that industrial fans are expensive but noctua is out of their mind. Only 3000rpm from a fan for 50bucks is out of question. And they are rather skinny compared to real industrial fan. I know linus is making a big deal out of it and yes compared to consumer fans it is something different but compared to industrial design its nothing special. Overmarketed expensive fan i would say.

I bought a set of these for my new build, and MAN are they loud! Only bought them because of noctua's reputation for quality and quiet, and because these don't look nearly as terrible as the poop brown ones... I can't use them. Even set to 40% on CAM (NZXT Grid2) they are just way too noisy, and at 30% they simply won't spin. This was my first set of Noctua fans, and I think I'm going to get a few more of the Corsair 140mm that came on my case, simply because I already KNOW they are quiet. Even at 100% these corsair fans just slightly whisper at me. I love them. For now, I've set the 2 Noctua fans to only turn on if the cpu gets above 60 degrees, which I've yet to even get remotely close to. I'm averaging about 20c completely air cooled, which is more than I could ask for. Just a bit of gaming, and a NAS. Specs: Obsidian 750D, Gigabyte GA-990FX Gaming, 8350FX, Intel 600p M.2 SSD, Hyper 212 with 2 corsair 120s, 32gb hyperx fury, MSI RX470 8gb, EVGA 1000W, Samsung 850 Pro SSD, and 4 WD Green old fashion hard drives. "Even tossed in a disk drive to show off." LOL Got some red LED fans (corsair), and a red LED light cable from NZXT, combined with the red lighting on the mobo and graphics card. Just posting specs if anyone was interested in what I built. Was my Christmas present to myself. Very pretty, and hasn't skipped a beat yet. Only thing disappointing about the entire build has been the Gigabyte software and trying to quiet down the fans. Once I get the fans sorted, I'll be happy. No longer plan on using the Gigabyte software, as I don't really need it and its kinda chit. Even after spending countless hours trying to get the software to actually work, it's still terrible. Wish I would have just not installed any of it. It's okay though, I'm likely going to reinstall Windows again to get a fresh registry and go from there. Keeping only the OS and main programs (Chrome) on the M.2, and all games and other programs on the samsung 850pro.

But I really like the new ones as well, I'm totally going to replace my NF-F12s with the new ones (When I have 100€ to spend just on fans xD) and I'm of course keeping the brown rubber isolators, they are a great accent to the black fans!

This is an industrial fan. Have you seen the individual piece prices of other industrial fans? 40 dollars is a bargain. For other fans you'd literally need to buy thousands to get the unit price down that low. Single unit prices usually exceed $100, and are often closer to $140. Sometimes you just need to realize when a product isn't for you. This product isn't for you. Don't buy it. There's no reason for you to buy it. You don't complain about the price of workstation video cards (hopefully), or EEC RAM, or anything else made for industry use. Do you?

Patrik Manni Where do you live? The most expensive industrial fan I can find is $13, if you buy 100 you pay $3 per piece or just $13 for one . $40 for these new fans is expensive, especially when compared to $25 for the older models. I would still buy them though. I think they are purtty xD

It took me over a year to find a good controller that could truly create pwm profiles (NOT VOLTAGE) so that these could stay at a quiet temp, but go up if the computer gets unexpectedly hot. Most controllers would only control the fans by voltage with a min rpm of like 1300 before they would cut off. This was extremely loud. The Aquacomputer fan controllers along with some pwm splitters FINALLY solved this issue. I have been using it like this for about a year now and can say this is finally a practical solution. I now have a box full of fan controllers though.
@technicalman
@technicalman 8 жыл бұрын
***** I purchased the 5 LT though I don't really know what my decision was based on at the time. I also use 2 Swiftech 8 way pwm splitters which uses power from a sata power plug. The fan controller is expensive, but I probably spend that same amount on several that did not fit my needs, so it would have saved me money if I would have started with that one. Hope this helps! PS the software works on Windows 10 in my rig. I figure that's worth mentioning since I had a Corsair Link and it barely worked on supported OS's and last I checked (about 8 months ago now) it couldn't even run on 10. The best thing about the Aquareo is that even if the software stopped working for some reason, the device works independently from the OS and can be fully configured from the OCD. It's just more convenient to use the software.

technicalman Speedfan costs nothing and can control fans via PWM, can confirm I've run my Hyper 212 EVO fan at 500rpm with it ;)
@technicalman
@technicalman 8 жыл бұрын
+Energy Core Speedfan is a good option if you have pwm ports on your motherboard that can support all of your fans. I did not. Mine only produced a half an amp on the pwm line even though the mobo manufacturer rated it at 1 amp. They also advertised that there were 3 pwm ports on the mobo, but in fact the others worked as voltage controllers only. When I ran 8 fans off of the 1 cpu pwm port, they would all run at full blast because splitting that signal that many times at only 1/2 an amp was not enough for my fans to register the signal. I even built a pwm booster which worked but produced an audible electric ticking noise and didn't really fit my needs since I wanted 4 fans to run at a different speed than the other 4 fans. Good suggestion though. I feel like I should write a pwm fan controller roundup. If you want to go cheaper and have a manual knob and not have a molex connector, you could always search amazon for pwm controller and buy one or more of the custom ones at 8-27 dollars (based on my search). I probably would have done that if I had thought to do so, but being able to have the fans auto adjust is nice, so no regrets there.
@kunstderfugue
@kunstderfugue 8 жыл бұрын
technicalman Actually I've been able to control fans with voltage through speedfan. You just gotta go te the advanced tab and choose the right mode for the speeds. The ones that are PWM, you choose that. For ones that don't there's the voltage control option. I can provide screenshots if you're interested. Edit: I'm going through the options right now and it seems I remembered wrong. Let's see...
@technicalman
@technicalman 8 жыл бұрын
Energy Core You are correct that they can be controlled by voltage. You can achieve a much slower rpm with pwm control before they turn off entirely though. It all depends on your needs I suppose. I wanted these to be absolutely silent under most use cases and to crank up the power and say to heck with silence in other situations. These fans are able to do that (I have the 3000 rpm models). With voltage only control, they were loud (8 fans). I was not able to get them under 1300 rpm without them sometimes turning off due to min voltage rating of the fans. When using voltage control alone I would keep them at or above 1400 rpm to avoid undervolting. I got these things down to 300 rpm with pwm by comparison.. though I don't recommend running them below the min rpm rating like that for longevity reasons.

nay. what even linus fails to understand is that these cost significantly more money, yet have none of the standard noctua's silencing features. You're paying for watherproofing and dustproofing for the motor and the ability to operate under extreme conditions. Nothing which is necessary for a personal computer. If you don't care about noise, get something else and don't even consider Noctua. A CM sickleflow X 2000rpm fan (for example) has significantly more CFM and MM/H20 than any Noctua fan and is WAY cheaper than the industrials.

duviday A CM Sickleflow 2000RPM has 1mm/H20 less pressure than the 120mm Noctua Industrial 2000RPM, the CFM is basically equivalent (Noctua slight edge). But for 20$ and ~10dba less that's not that bad, too bad they don't make them in 140mm and their life expectancy is ~1/3rd of the Noctuas. You always have to pay a premium to have the best quality.

watsyurdeal I have an x61 Kraken, the stock fans are junk, have started to rattle and are in dire need of replacement. I'm looking at the 2000 PWM version as well. Did you run these fans through your x61 & CAM software or do you have a fan controller? I'm concerned that these fans may draw to many amps, though I believe the power is drawn from a sata cable.
@watsyurdeal
@watsyurdeal 9 жыл бұрын
The Kraken can control the Fan Speed of these fans just fine, as long as you plug it into the same pins that your old fans were using. Don't plug these fans into the mobo, just use the pins on the Kraken itself, and it'll control it just fine. They work great, though if I were you, spend the extra cash and get the 3000 models, just in case. Never hurts to have strong airflow, and that becomes more important in smaller cases.

I have 4 of these 3000 RPM fans in my PC and they have more static pressure/airflow than any other fans I could find for 120mm and 140mm sizes. There are more powerful fans, yes, but they require a large power supply in their own right which is not viable for ones own home PC. They do keep my machine pretty cool and even under killer loads, things are only warm. Also, why do people complain about the noise? It's not all that bad. Who even gives a shit when you wear a headset anyway. As far as I'm concerned they are a blessing when you live with other people and decide to turn on the porn cause they can't hear a thing. Legit man, just buy it. If you can't hear your fans turning they most likely aren't doing a good job anyway.

The performance is really great, if set on low my i7-4770K @3.5GHz reaches about 65 Celsius. when put in performance mode the temperature drops 10-13 degrees, impressive. The thing with the stock H80i fans was a noticable fan noise... the noctua's are silent on that matter. However, i now can hear the airflow all the time... so because of it's performance i am still left with background noise. Nothing really bad it's more like a room ventilator set on low speed.. So if you are a real silent freak, these are probably not going to be satisfying for you.

Please test the IP67 ones in the rain. I would love to see the non computing applications. I would like to see if it can run reliably in an environment where it may be exposed to high humidity (that will condense, and in worst case, may get splashed). Fan will be receiving outdoor air. Many case fans designed for computer use tend to be quieter for their given airflow, and it will be cool to implement some on a custom outdoor waterproof enclosure for some networking and wireless equipment) (if the fan can handle it, then it will not bee too hard to use a case design where you have an exposed section of a heatsink mounted to a heatspreader in the enclosure, and then have a little bit of duct work added to protect the fan and heatsink and allow a more clean look when mounted to an outdoor facing wall

I bought a 92mm Noctua fan to try to replace my extremely noisy CPU/Case fan (in a SFF box, it serves as both). It's PWM controlled (by SpeedFan), so the current CPU does spin at various speeds depending on my load. My current fan's speeds vary from ~950 RPM at 0% PWM setting to ~3800RPM at 100% PWM setting, at which point it sounds like a jet engine. The Noctua fan I tried maxed out at 1600RPM. And to be fair, the Noctua did perform better at 1600RPM than the old fan did. It cooled a bit better at that RPM, and it was significantly quieter at that RPM. The problem? 1600RPM couldn't keep the CPU cooled with the Noctua. It's peak airflow was just way too low for the somewhat higher static pressure to overcome the difference. The CPU would immediately overheat. I mailed Noctua about the problem, basically asking them if they had any plans for a higher RPM fan. My reasoning was, if Noctua can make fans that are quieter than competing fans at similar RPMs, perhaps they could make a high-speed fan that, while not exactly quiet, would certainly be quietER than competing models. At the time, they said they only wanted to go after fans that were really quiet rather than just quieter, and that nothing was in the works. But now it looks like they have some 3000RPM models with this new industrial lineup, and that those fans are significantly quieter than normal fans at 3000RPM... If they introduce a 92mm model, I will definitely give that model a try in my machine and see if it can keep it cool!
