If fishing Chesil I have a third rod in the gutter a big bait catfish hooks strong rig see what's about could be for the whole session while fishing 2 rods at range and I use a small fighting belt for the rod butt to sit in while reeling in or when a fish is on saves the uncomfortable feeling sometimes you get or a really big conger comes along
