This is a simple case of not knowing your audience. We are asking why we choose one or the other. Mainly, we know that Nextjs has server-like features. But also Express has better route manipulation. So, "Is there a difference between the Nextjs server side (api) and Node.js?" Is the real question. We want to know what to use for the backend.

NodeJs is a plateform but NextJs is a framework, I do not understand, why you compare NodeJS with NextJs. It's differance thing.
