I love dj scratch, that’s my dude, but any real dj knows that dj revolution way crazy sharper with his scratches, dj scratch was just very smart to disguise this fact by, adding theatrical sneaker 👟 tricks, and mouth scratching, if it came down to body tricks and triple beat chasing, etc etc, scratch would probably win anyway, but Dj Revolution’s cuts were ridiculously sharp!!

Revolution always uses the same scratch most the time 😅😅😅 Mad over rated
@vondada112 жыл бұрын
Revolution is a beast, but he's a turntablist. Scratch is a "DJ". Im from the same school as Scratch, he's actually a friend by the way. We're considered old school. We learn to actually SCRATCH more with hand movement, control, balance. A lot of newer school DJs or Turntablists, are all about the fader. But even though the term Turntablist was coined by Babu, Scratch would be considered one of the first true turntablist of my time. I "scratch" my first record in '83 at the age of 11.

It wasn't about who was MORE hip hop. It was about who had MORE skills. Rev killed Scratch. And it hurts for me to say that because Scratch is a pioneer and legend. What I thought was very cocky and arrogant was when Scratch was saying "how dare you go against me. I'm DJ Scratch." Well, as far as I am concerned Rev is a legend too and he could have said the same thing towards Scratch. That's what hip hop is about. Battling.

well if that was the case then you respect what the east coast did for scratching in general........ between jazzy jeff, spinbad, and cash money, they brought evolutionized turntablism from the very start...

chris allistar its a SCRATCH battle dude...its all perspective i guess, but idk what your background is....but in a SCRATCH battle, I rather get a nod from a Q/Craze/A-Trak than a thousand Kendall Jenners throwing their hands in the air and wooing
@chrisallistar80079 жыл бұрын
Julio Lui K that's fair two respective styles that have clashed and basically killed turntablism.See I respect your judge list but do remember that these battles contain hidden politics you don't see such as sponsership, friendship, and even crowd heckling. My generation made yours, almost 30 yrs of copy cats.Dj scratch won NY new music seminar 1988 the winner after that is known as the pioneer of juggling that's Dj Miz. Crabs,Tweaks,twiddles are just transformers with fingers instead of wrists.Scratch won it's not hard to tell.
@WeBoogie288 жыл бұрын
thats because you know nothing of showmanship..you just an opinionated spectator..skill is capturing a crowd and then superv technique
@djbond99728 жыл бұрын
+chris allistar again you are talking nonsense (apart from scratch winning I'm with you on that). dj miz didn't start beat juggling it's actually Steve d who is credited for that who won the NMS in 1990,as for various scratches just being transformers with fingers,well that's just ignorant.
@vondada111 жыл бұрын
I'm an old school scratch dj, since '86. This is a classic old school vs. new era battle. Amongst DJs, Rev wins. But old schoolers have more showmanship. Move the crowd, thats why I started dj'ing. Hence more old school djs that travel the world making real money for their performances, and DMC champs still practicing in they moms basement. TRUE. But also, I find that a lot, not all, of newer DJs dont have the fundamentals that older djs have. They trying to crab, flare, etc right out the gate.
@jaydublis10 жыл бұрын
Dj Scratch is old school, Revolution is from the new school of Scratching Thought. Im from the Dj Scratch era where all our movements was in our wrist work but the new school djs movements come from there fingers which is way smarter. Im converting to finger work ayyy! Revolution #SALUTE

James Willingham You guys had everything wrong!lol Best dj there was q Bert and he showed signs of humbleness, even though Allen those competitors you can tell they barely starting scratching 3 months ago back then, dj revolution he's very good and been doing this for a while But him his the example all of the good combos of scratching the made him Seem legit, but when you see his personality is just a typical hater with the shity attention get you know where, Is very obvious the participants were expecting a very good vibe for him But nah the guy is trash instead to be cool and be humble and help the participants and help them and motivate them Every one knows the he was very good The fact that you're pro doesn't mean it made it okay for you to treat them like shit because they're just starting learning Like he really stupid, once you're a top dj other DJ's look up to you and this revolution guy was so pathetic that he already knows the winner of the event he's not a pro scratching dj Instead just to congratulate the winner He wants to battle him knowing the other dj just started scratching!lol He should've just leave like that And be more humble and be like yeah Me and the winner we gonna team up and play together, to make him look good Because revolution got no class Why he would wanna battle the rookie winner when they all know his a pro He's just pathetic a hater than thinks is the best dj in the world and the type of dj that hates on you if you have an event in the weekend and he does he's mad because you got work and thinks he deserves it more because he's the best dj ever! Mixing music, not using beat counters but listening for compatibility in the melody is how you get to be a great DJ. Young dudes now use too many technical cheaters to compensate for not understanding the melody & tempo of the records they play. In the olden days dudes had to push records to keep the tempo & would cue a record manually. Look up Larry Levan, Shep Pettibone, Patrick Adams, Rock Master Scott, Terminator X, Jam Master Jay, Tat Money, those guys could work a record & the crowd.

You must be a baby.. Cats were scratching in the 1970s. The Technics SL-1200 came out in 1972. The MkII came out in 1978. Scratching is no more complex now than then. It is a parlor trick. The mixing they do here you can NEVER do in a party because it ruins the musical flow and if the people aint dancing, the club owner aint happy. Biz Markie isnt a scratch DJ for nothing and he never was. He is a hip-hop, breakbeat DJ. The young dudes now worry too much about scratching & not mixing.

@DJDAMIAN722 жыл бұрын
@@Iamdjqu1975 You don't have to be a member of a big Rap group to be a great DJ/turntablist... how about legendary DJs like Cash Money, X-Ecutioners, Q-Bert, some of the Scratch Pickles and some of the Beat Junkies (I said some of them because Babu and Mixmaster Mike were in 2 big Rap groups)... those are just some examples but there are so many great legendary DJs who were not members of big Rap groups and nobody cares about that when talking about the greatest DJs/turntablists out there. DJ Scratch is a dope DJ & a dope beat producer BUT when it comes to just DJ skills I think DJ Revolution is on a slightly higher level. I remember having my mind blown plenty of times while listening to DJ Revolution on the wakeup show back in the mid 90's and I still get the same vibe when I hear him spin now, he is still one of the most skilled DJs out there... both are 2 very dope DJs though!

That is completely wrong !!! DISK from the SKRATCH PIKLZ was the first to coin TURNTABLIST !!! DISK taught QBERT all of the old skool style of cutting ,,, QBERT started in 1986 and DISK started in 1977 !!! No one on this plant can mess with DISK ,, just cause he's not part of this cheesy world of SERATO dj's ,, thats does'nt give you the right to give out false information ,, do your homework first !!! What does old mixers have to do with this? They are ALL using the same mixer here. And what did Scratch do in this challenge that was so great? Took his shoe off? 1 forward, 1 back…transform. You don't need to feel the record for that. And if Scratch was doing those back then why didn't he come with something more than what he did? So if I take my shoe off and learn that way….i guess that makes me better than Rev too.
@TargetAcquisition12 жыл бұрын
No one is dissin Jazzy J….I'm not from the west coast. And just because he invented TRANSFORMING does NOT mean he invented crabbing. All scratching is a transform…but there are different techniques that were invented by others. You can't sit up and say the crab scratch is the same as the 1 click or 2 click that Jazzy Jeff came up with.
@TargetAcquisition12 жыл бұрын
I know you said they were better. I know you were defending him. I wasn't. Maybe it's the bullshit of this show but Scratch did not look or sound like a legend in this series. They let all of his cockiness and mouth on camera, but listening to the actual djing was horrible. Now I KNOW Scratch is much better than what was shown in this episode, but come on…they played Rev.
@screwedupdeejay12 жыл бұрын
Not really. DJ Scratch came up in that era where battle dj's incorporated all of those things into a set. You can't really fault him for being flashy and knowing how to draw the crowd(and judges) in and get them hype. DJ Revolution was doing some GREAT scratching...but frankly he was boring.

You got waaaay off topic. What does a mixer from 1980 have to do with creating transforms? Nothing. Creating DIFFERENT ways to cut is what other djs did. You trying to say the crab scratch is nothing but a transform….EVERY FADER MOVEMENT IS A TRANSFORM.

i think its harder to do cuts really fast like flares or chirps. rather then doing them slow n focusing on different cuts. ioonoe it just depends. i like revs stuff

Revolutin had more skills no dout. Scratch was just oldskooltrick type a guy cause he did knew that he loses in skills. People who knows of scratching, knows the trued.

Scratch had to pull out body tricks and it STILL sounded like shit. Then he talks shit like he was on point.

LOL....really? This was the first time I had heard her name mentioned since the late 90's. She has respect for the other DJs....unlike you, sir.

I'm glad that Biz kinda called out DJ Rap on her name. I mean, she's a House DJ calling herself DJ Rap.....what kinda nonsense is that!?

Lol if your Turntablisms fan You can see how much dj scratch is making turntablism to look stupid. And in a first place he cant scratch.

@docbladez k..that was a little out of frustration with wack djs...and hard on DJ Scratch. SCRATCH may have paid his dues with EPMD and been around the world holding it down for hiphop...but he is NOT a great DJ...medicore at best compared to battle djs of the last 15 years...SCRATCH would not make it past the second round in DMC or ITF...this is a popularity contest

Another thing Scratch is using fucking relative mode in Serato to make the record unskipable while Rev is using real wax..

Anybody could do the bullshit that Scratch did-that shit was so simple. All of those gimmicky tricks weren't even on beat.
