I don’t want to over intellectualise Noel however I find him to be a fascinating individual. He has “it” that is undefinable. I was there at Knebworth and I was 18. I didn’t realise until years later that it was indeed history being created. Noel is a great musician obviously. He is also brutally honest which is difficult for me to fully get my head around. He has bags of charisma and is philosophically very sharp indeed. I don’t always agree with everything he says but I would definitely love to sit down for dinner with him and just listen to him all night. I’m dying of a spine problem slowly and very painfully and it really does make me think of my life and Knebworth is up there and also all of the tunes instantly transport me to very specific feelings and times. I wish I could just say thanks to Noel for creating the very cliched phrase of creating the soundtrack to my life. “Whatever” I think I’ll have at my funeral. Mega band that meant/ means the world to me.

The difference today to the 1990s and before is that music no longer dominates youth culture. Now creative young people can invest their creativity by creating a KZbin profile or creating an Instagram profile etc... Young people have kinda moved on from popular music and are doing other things. In the second half of the 20th Century music was everything to young people, particularly creative young people.

On filming performing artists, I always have 1 rule - if 3 or more people are filming the acts with their camcorders or smartphones, don’t join in with them and live in the moment. I had a friend who would always insist on filming every comedian or musician or band there was in Benidorm in 2015/2016 everytime we went to see them and he would try to get ME to do it, what a cheek. Whipping out camcorders and/or smartphones is fun at a party or march/protest, just not when you’re trying to watch an artist perform in front of you.
