Well, he never had a great voice to begin with. Decent, but not great. It's just the song beat was great for dancing in the club. He was a famous DJ who decided to take a shot singing, and it became a freestyle classic. Pretty much the only hit he had. Saw him a few years ago in a freestyle concert. The guy looked the same LOL

I grew up in the 80s and I've just now discovered this song. For some reason the radio stations in my area never played it.

It only charted at #47 on the Billboard Hot 100, so it just missed the top 40. It likely was because of several factors, this was the first single that he ever released and he was a virtual unknown, it was a dance record and he was signed to a “dance” subsidiary of a record label, he was Latino and outside of places like the New York metropolitan area and Miami and California, radio stations tended to overlook music like that from performers like that, and he likely didn’t do any national television promotion for it. I’m sure the fact that he smokes a cigarette in the music video also didn’t help him get it airplay on a major music video channel like MTV. The photo cover of the Noel album this single ended up on also has him smoking a cigarette on it.

This has to be my favorite freestyle song personally. This reminded me of my father in the 80s. He use to dress the same way but the only difference he had long hair like Jesus lol. He was a mixs of the Bee Gee and this guy Noel with a little bit of sprinkle of John Travolta. I grew up on freestyle cause of my father and mother. Every weekend was a party at my mother house and my father house. They were separated but I had good relationship with my father. I was born 1984 so I was able to enjoy as a kid the freestyle music. I wish I was a teenager in the 80s. Everything seems so magical for me. From movies, shows, arts, cartoon, music, fashion, designer clothes, interior design and so on.... So growing up in Hoboken NJ as a kid in the 80s to the early 90s listening to freestyle was the best memories I ever had. I wish I could time travel back for a day.
