Have a daughter who had a big mouth like that. She never laid a hand on me but just oozed that attitude I was so shocked I couldn't imagine where it came from so I ignored it sure that it was a phase that she would most definitely grow out of as she never heard anyone in our house speak to each other or treat each other that way. Well the reality of it is she grew into an adult that still speaks to me that way if I never would have allowed an adult to speak to me in the way that I let my daughter get away with. If anyone reads this that has a mouthy kids don't assume that it's a teenager going through a phase. There's a very good chance that they're just a shity kid that not dealt with will grow into a shity adult. The sad reality is that if we let our kids act that way it's not them that's the problem it's us.

My older sister (young adult) is the same way. My mom would try to keep a strict tone before it turns into yelling as she keeps agitating, and my dad tried to calmly point out her attitude issues and it's effects, but now he rarely stays calm. From what I've observed, she has this mindset that she's never/barely in the wrong and everyone else is overreacting over sth minor. I kinda doubt hitting would help; it would only fuel her attitude as the more frequent fights do now. But there could be a lot I'm missing. After several years of her complaining about my mom and me only thinking this was a one-sided issue (I never really paid attention to the fights) to now noticing what she does that cause severe reactions and her overall behavior the past 3-4 yrs, I really don't know.

Mom and dad are walking on eggshells so that things don't escalate and the house stays calm. I never would have hit my daughter. Was just BS talk.
