13:20 In reference to highlighting the Jabberwock's strength, I harped on its strength in Thither (where it's supposed to hunt) via Lamorna and the centaur random encounter. For Lamorna, it was a dry and basic "that thing is far too strong for its own good, but it is easily confused by simple illusions and music." For the centaur, I had him be a supremely rare survivor of a Jabberwock attack who, now missing a leg and an arm, was unable to follow his herd out of Prismeer. In addition to his physical wounds, he was permanently affected by the burble aura and spoke only in nonsense speech. Though initially unintelligible, characters could try and piece together the centaur's words after a successful Insight or Int check, with characters who did the bubble attraction getting advantage for decoding the burble nonsense. The centaur gave the same spiel on why its still around, but also harped on how terrible and debilitating the Jabberwock is.

In my campaign, the hags' final plan will be an ongoing ritual to take control of the Jabberwock and throw it at the party as revenge. The players need to stop them before they fully finish the ritual, in a Coven encounter! They'll have shared mythic actions & stuff to beef them up

Sounds fun, but what is/was (just saw that this comment is almost 1 year old) your plan if your players end up killing the hags ? I just finished the campaign yesterday and we ended up killing all 3 hags individually.

@@Nr4747 They have access to powerful weird magic and a strong incentive to keep their sisters alive so that they can be a coven and use the cauldron. I give each Hourglass hag the means to resurrect the others if necessary, on top of having better escape plans than the book suggests. Bavlorna has a frozen 'athaling' and 'delynling' that she can grow into a full version should a sister die. Skabatha can pull backup past versions of her sisters out of portraits. Endelyn can catch their souls in specially prepared marionettes. Each of these returned versions of the hags makes their stats a bit different and weaker, but makes it so they remain in the story and remain a coven.

@@phaerlax Ah, that is a really interesting solution, kudos ! We actually chased away the Jabberwock with Bloody Beak and then freed Tasha before ever facing the bad guys. And since we had already killed the 3 hags, the fight was super easy and very anti-climatic.

@@Nr4747 Real bummer! I love this adventure dearly, but I don't think the "you can complete it without rolling initiative!" bit is a selling point at all. I think it needs some alterations for climatic showdowns

I am glad you are pointing out how freaking deadly the Jabberwock is. I have seen way to many people look at the HP and comment on how weak it is. That thing eats parties.

@@NoFunAllowed yeah that's pretty much what I figured lol. One of my players when they came across and thought he was really neat and wanted to make a character based on him, not going to be hard to do but they asked what exact race he was. Thank you for all your videos they really helped me gain a better Insight on the game and I think my players really enjoyed all the little twists that you inspired me to put in there
