Thank you for this, FINALLY someone makes a pipeline video. What about retopology though, apparently this is a crucial step, which I don't understand fully. Why go through the extensive trouble of fine detailing, only to overlay it with low poly after. Someone mentioned about baking the detail on to the low polly, but I still don't understand.
@Noggi_3D
@Noggi_3D 3 жыл бұрын
Uuuh another video idea. :D In general, retopology is important if you want to add detailed textures or animate your character. Cleaning up, or rather rebuilding your topology more structured, lets you organize and optimize your UVs easier and animations run much smoother with fewer vertices. If you plan to retopologize your sculpt, you should add detail to that new model. You usually bake detail if you need to stay below a certain vertices count. Hope this helps for now. :)

Your channel is great man! I've done some sculpting and have worked in c4d/blender for a about two years just when I have time. One of the hardest parts has just been getting a general idea of how I want to work on characters or other modeling stuff. Creating short overviews like this really helps get a general direction instead of just diving into details of something I'm not even sure if I want to use yet. It is especially important when working with a low budget laptop haha because I'll need to understand my own restrictions when working with characters until I can upgrade. Thanks a lot for putting out really useful info for free! A little bit offputting on the title and description but sure is getting click I bet ;) Anyone who has even used a 3d program should know it is not possible to do this tho lol but confusing for the super newbs. @Noggi_3D
@Noggi_3D 2 жыл бұрын
Roughness, Specularity, Subsurface Scattering, etc. all have a spectrum from 0 (nothing) to 1 (maximum). Or also black (0) to white (1). So you can plug in textures, and those textures determine the value of those settings. For realistic characters, custom textures for said values are very important. But sometimes I don't want to Retopologize and UV unwrap my sculpts, so I just use Vertex painting. Vertex painting applies a color value to the individual vertices of the model, which makes it a good alternative for textures. :)

If it's more specific I describe what I'm looking for in my search in different ways. I try to at least find a front and side view of my character/person. If I can't find that I'll take what I can get. On top of that I'll get references for everything I want to put special attention to. :)

I can understand the comments but the title is not misleading I think. It's the EXPLANATION of the process that will be summed up in a matter of 4 minutes not the process itself. Sidenote: try using clearcoat input of principled shader with bump node out and turn up clearcoat roughness or else it'll be too shiny.

Hey, It do not look like realistic at all. Like, it's all green and the ears are not shaped correctly. And I won't talk about her teeth. Dude, study anatomy.
