Does anyone else think that this is his best song from his new album?

Definitely

Yes, I think so. The composition, the hook, the lyrics- it's just awesome. First time I heard this with my wife I was like "well, he's got something there". It's really his voice that makes it convincing and unique. I saw that he wasn't adding this to the setlist initially and was hopeful that he would!

This one and Dinner and Diatribes, Movement, Shrike. Lol I can't decide. Depends on what I'm doing. Movement is a great groove song, my inner stripper starts trying to come out lol. I have no inner stripper. 🤔

This is extra cool because Katie Mack, the cosmologist who INSPIRED THE SONG and is referenced in the chorus, is a professor at NC State, right here in Raleigh.

She commented on this video! Hozier mentioned that she helped inspire the song, and that she was in the audience that night. It was a very cool moment in the show!

Can we just give some love to Alex Ryan grooving to this? You know the music's amazing when the whole band's clearly feeling it.

This is hands down one of my favorite songs from the album. It's just sad that his mike clearly was not loud enough and he kept trying to signal to the sound person to raise the volume. At least he could switch to holding his mic on the choruses without taking it away from the song and his guitar playing. And how cool was it that Katie Mack was in the audience! I need to read her book that inspired him to write the song. This man is truly amazing and can do anything!

For starts What a waste to say the heart could feel apart Or feel complete, baby Why would you make out of words A cage for your own bird? When it sings so sweet The screaming, heaving, fuckery of the world? Why would you offer a name To the same old tired pain? When all things come from nothin' And honey, if nothin's gained? My heart is thrilled by the still of your hand That's how I know now that you understand There's no plan There's no race to be run The harder the rain, honey, the sweeter the sun There's no plan There's no kingdom to come I'll be your man if you got love to get done Sit in and watch the sunlight fade Honey, enjoy, it's gettin' late There's no plan There's no hand on the rein As Mack explained, there will be darkness again Let it hurl, let the awful song be heard Blue bird, I know your beat, baby But your secret is safe with me 'Cause if secrets were like seeds Keep my body from the fire Hire a gardener for my grave Your secret is safe with me And if secrets were like seeds When I'm lying under marble Marvel at flowers you'll have made My heart is thrilled by the still of your hand That's how I know now that you understand There's no plan There's no race to be run The harder the pain, honey, the sweeter the song There's no plan There's no kingdom to come I'll be your man if you got love to get done Sit in and watch the sunlight fade Honey, enjoy, it's gettin' late There's no plan There's no hand on the rein As Mack explained, there will be darkness again 🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸 My heart is thrilled by the still of your hand That's how I know now that you understand How big the hourglass, how deep the sand I shouldn't have hoped to know, but here I stand There's no plan There's no race to be run The harder the rain, honey, the sweeter the sun There's no plan There's no kingdom to come I'll be your man if you got love to get done Sit in and watch the sunlight fade Honey, enjoy, it's gettin' late There's no plan There's no hand on the rein As Mack explained, there will be darkness again 💙✨
