Great review. This is my number one fragrance channel when it comes to fragrance reviews. I bought this fragrance about a year ago. Smells fantastic. Very elegant, deep and sensual. The issue with me is that the mid and dry down became very feminine in my skin, so I had to give it away to my sis. Smells great on her.

nice review. i think noir exquis is a more refined version of mmm's by the fireplace, with less smokeyness. kafkaesque has a very interesting review on noir exquis and its different spray amounts leading to different experiences with the scent, which might interest you.

Totally. Very more refined. I had the feeling it doesn’t leave you the impression of ‘’dirty smokeyness’’ of By the Fireplace where people would watch you like: ‘’you went to a campfire and didn’t wash you hair since? 😬 Please, go wash you hair.’’ Sorry, but I think that this sensation is overwhelming with By the Fireplace in the opening. Then the drydown looks more similar. But I think Noir Exquis is also sweeter, more feminine. I really like it!

I got some small decants a while back and it was a toss up between this, Tea for Two or Timbuktu. I went with Timbuktu and kind of wish I had tried this or Tea for Two instead, this sounds much more up my alley. I'm beginning to think I don't like vetiver based fragrances. Overpowers other notes.

Thanks for your review, very descriptive and evocative. I was drawn to looking it up on KZbin because I sampled Maison Margiela’s By The Fireplace today and liked it even though it was a very straightforward and dare I say, dry wood fire and bitter vanilla in the drydown on me, and this came up as a very similar scent, and I like Bertrand Duchafour so was piqued to find out what it was like, especially since there are fruity notes in the mix that I felt might help juice it up a bit and make it more delectable. One question I do have for you though, is that, I live in Singapore, which is basically summer all year round, but I seem drawn to scents classified as resolutely autumn/winter scents.I’m never keen on light citrusy scents much, I just gravitate towards to heavy leathery and woody stuff. Do you think that is ‘wrong’ and maybe I need to develop a more sophisticated nose for the lighter summer scents? I perspire lots here and most scents (with the exception of Black Afgano) fade out very quickly, some to me in barely a matter of hours, and I feel like there is no way a citrus would last on me. Do you have any recommendations for summer scents that last?

Bro review Rima XI from Carner Im always going between Rima and El born. Rima smells like an artisanal bakery to me reminds me of my childhood. I still think El born is better but I've been reaching for Rima a ton it puts me in like a zen state.

Great, honest, fair review. I've always like this perfume house. I think it is underrated and not reviewed very often for some reason. My impression is that the scents by this brand look more feminine and are marketed in that manner, though that probably isn't exactly true. I will definitely try this one.

Perfectly unisex in my opinion! Some similar fragrances are By the Fireplace by Margiela, Bentley Majestic Cashmere, and Soir Exclusif by Navitus Parfums (same perfumer). I hope this helps!
