Thank you mate! That one is particularly special. I think I shall have to multi-sample it and load it across a piano roll. It could make one hell of an instrument all by itself.

Cheers mate, in my experience - the key to success is all in the quality of the contact mic. From there you can just build something utterly ridiculous and the fun is in the experimentation.

Pretty dope dude. I just finished rewatching Hannibal on netflix and I think that bad boy can handle a large part of that score work. Very nice. 👍👌🤟

Haha I'm not sure it could do an entire Netflix feature, but I can imagine that these sorts of recordings went a long way towards the sound for that show! Thanks for stopping by mate, much appreciated & flattered!

Thank you kindly. I'm using two contact microphones, one on each metal tray, going into my audio interface. All that happens after that is some reverb being applied via Logic. The plan is to go more in-depth with effects and other sound design techniques, but for now it's just a bunch of kitchen stuff bolted together 😂

really awesome ! This made me get a bow (really cheap) but I can't get it to ring like this on metal stuff....does the quality of the bow matters or does it has to do maybe with the metal stuff mostly ? cheers!!
@AturaxAudio2 жыл бұрын
Haha that's awesome to hear. So in my experience the bow doesn't matter so much, but don't forget to wax it before use for best results. With regards to the metals you have, I find that too thick means no resonance. You want something that will continue to vibrate after you've hit it (e.g. like a tuning fork will ring out after being tapped). So go round and hit stuff before you commit to using it 👍

@@jamesmeustache7740 oh yes, and I feel your pain. Sooo many times I've applied contact microphones to things that look like they are going to sound amazing... only to find they don't. Keep searching and you will get great results. I personally find charity shops to be a good place to pick up cheap metal objects (like plate or mug holders made from wire frame). Good luck dude!!!

What's that long metal thing called? And how did you attach that to the metal plate hahaha so cool!
@AturaxAudio2 жыл бұрын
I believe that is called a 'mug tree'? And everything was put together using nuts, bolts and metal washers. Essentially it is all just screwed down as tightly as I could get it. Thanks!!
