Well, if they had rec'd airplay, which they never did, people would've heard what really good quality music sounds like and i'm sure they'd like it, i don't understand the media radio music business at all, they play to the lowest common denominator, maybe a lot of people want to hear good music, it's not anyone's fault but the programmers! This song deserves to go down as one of the greats, in the annals of rock. A crime that they aren’t a household name if you ask me.

A lot more can be felt about this than said. The TV show Californication used it to great effect in a sequence that, among other things, describes the deep processes of human shame and redemption. The point that the drums explode mid song is timed in the show to correspond with a writer finally overcoming his writers block and his typewriter exploding in a kind of drumming action itself. The show's thematic idea that the writer is writing in a modern time still with a typewriter is similar to what I feel is the song's exploration of the gameification of living in the (post) modern world. This video clearly has much care into every aspect of its creation, but without becoming polished per se. I feel like its the kind of thing Quentin Tarantino would pickup for its grit alone, were it not so self deprecating and introverted thematically. Though I cant imagine the scene he could use it for. The state of peaceful depression with a tinge of despair this song invokes for me seems incompatible with the usual Tarantino scenes involving twisted mania. Nonetheless, a similarity between this and a great Tarantino scene is the feeling of absolute immersion, absolute suspension of disbelief. Probably the closest to the texture of this song he gets is with some of the music in The Hateful Eight, like the running horses, or Jennifer Jason Leigh's guitaring. But there is still an ocean between them so I will stop trying to compare. I suspect when we are moved by things like this, its because our ancestors experienced long slow periods of great difficulty, followed by pivotal moments in their lives, while today we are almost continuously faced with cycles of emotion.

@@Oh_I_Will s4 ep3 home sweet home... Becca's actor (sorry for not looking up her name) deserves an award for the acting she engages with that simultaneously gets Hank lower than he perhaps has ever been...and, actually ends his writers block.... David Duchovny manages a look on a balcony during this song that I can only describe as the weight of the world on your shoulders while you think about all the ways you yourself have added to that weight. It's like the moment he realizes he's actually gone too far this time, for forgiveness. He's discredited himself a bridge too far and knows it...like in the song he can no longer hit the game's reset button.
