Hey Max, this video is visually very nice, as always. One question, there's a caption in your video that says that DaVinci recognizes CineEI automatically and corrects exposure accordingly. Can you tell me how this works? When I use a CST node for EI200 footage to get standard footage (Rec.709), I get it two stops overexposed. Or is the workflow different than CST? Thanks in advance! Your videos are detailed but not too long. I just bought an FX3 and unfortunetaly I noticed CMOS smearing in low light shots. I use 800 and 12800 ISO to avoid this CMOS smearing but several other ISO values show the issue. In low lit situations do you get CMOS smearing image issues wth the FX6? And yes, often times we can add light to the shot.... but sometimes we can't add light to the scene.
@maxsautner Жыл бұрын
Hi, that's interesting! never heard about this! (A dumb question... Do you use the right shutter speed?) Make sure to check the camera also, before your guaranty is over! maybe its a hardware issue? 🤷🏻♂️

@@maxsautner Thanks for the reply! Here is a video that CVP made which mentions CMOS smearing. It happens when underexposing and is not a function of the wrong shutter speed. kzbin.info/www/bejne/gKW3dXyujdyppas

Hello Max, great video, thanks :). Please help me understand, why did you set your Zebra 2 to 77% for 'white' when Sony recommends 61% for SLog3?
@maxsautner11 ай бұрын
Hi, correct! I'm previewing AND measuring the s709 MLUT (Monitor preview LUT). The 90% white card on my colorchecker card should be around 77% in s709. If the MLUT is switched off, the FX6 measures the slog3 which must be around 61%.
@hediver111 ай бұрын
Am I correct then, that the jump from Sony's recommended 61% to 77% correlates to overexposing by ~2+ ? How did you arrive at 77%, meaning that 77% Zebra on 90% bright reflective white is 2 stops over? @@maxsautner

Do those yellow lines just automatically show up when in waveform mode, or did you have to enable them and/or define what values they need to be? If so, how did you do that? What values should be mapped to what lines? You're leaving out quite a bit...

Hi Thanks for your support! I have a question: I've been told that Slog3 lut was the best way to shoot. Why do you then use rec709 lut? And why, when I'm using Slog3, I cannot see any difference on my fx3 monitor when I turn Lut on and Off?

Do you correct with your exposure with the grey card and white card before or after increasing exposure by two stops? Also is there any way to preview the Rec709 LUT on the FX6 without recoding it baked in without using a second monitor? Cheers in advance!

Thanks for the great tutorial! What are your LUT settings. Is Mlut enabled for stream, hdmi or internal rec?
@kylelikesducks8 ай бұрын
Is it the same for images where we want to protect/pull pack the highlights? So brighter scenes you shoot above the Native/Base ISO and then adjust Aperture and lighting to bring it back to exposed in monitor. Then edit get an under exposed image and brighten it up? Thanks so much for your videos so informative and clear!

Always stick to native iso unless youre clipping

Thanks for the info Max! I am having a weird issue with my FX6, I'm using CINE EI, SLOG3, but if I change the exposure, nothing happens. The brightness remains the same even if I switch to 3200 EI, 6400 EI, or basically any EI value (this happens for both Base Values 800 and 12800). Also, even if I apply the Lut 709 to see what I am shooting, I still see the washed out image from SLOG3. Could you please help me with this? Thanks!!
@roy11aalfaroАй бұрын
The problem that I have with this is that then it is only useful on scenarios when you have control of your lights and can adjust them to overexpose. If I am on the street at night filming and my f is wide open and I am using the HBase ISO, then this is useless because I don't have any way to overexpose my image.

I wish you would show which LUT you are applying. Does most of this info apple to the SOny FS7Mark 11 ?

@sertocd22 күн бұрын
If you are outdoors you can't use cine ei because you don't have control over the light. What you did is possible in a studio environment. The other option is the adjustment aperture of course that would unfortunately tamper with your artistic choice and change the DOF. Best option is to set your gain to 180 degree shutter angle and set the camera to auto ND. Done.

@@S2keyz Sure. Just never use it and you'll be fine. Overexposures are guaranteed.
@allika199215 күн бұрын
@@sertocd In certain conditions of light you can use VND filters to get desired exposure. To get more data in the shadows (for example, outdoors in a sunny day with bright and dark places in the same scene) you can overexpose and then compensate with -1EV CineEI value, mantaining 180 degree shutter angle, base ISO and desired lens aperture. VND filters are a good way to get desired exposure in uncertain light conditions.

Halving or doubling the EI is equal to 1 stop. If you wanted to over expose 2 stops in the high EI of 12,800 you would set 3,200 EI.
