I think you've completely missed the target audience. So glad that Nokia released a phone like this, my mother who is elderly (paralysed on one side) cannot hold most of the new phones in one hand and use it. Especially when you couple in with the onscreen buttons that are not tactile. This is perfect for people such as this who want to use just the phone, in one hand, navigate it without looking.

No, I totally get that -- and Nokia has released some real gems in that exact style. I'm a big fan of the 800 Tough or the 8110 4G for example, both of which are great feature phones with tactile buttons and fixed feature sets. It's just that, outside the cheap price, there's little that makes the 225 4G stand out by comparison. It's the weakest feature phone Nokia's released (at least here in Australia) IMHO.

I think you expect too much from a basic phone that harkens back to the times when we just needed to call and not waste our time on silly crap like games, music players, camera and other junky non-consequential stuff. This phone is for those that cherish human to human interaction and not a smartphone addiction.

Granted, and I prefer the simplicity. But they could have learned a thing or two from their earlier feature phones and carried these over. IMHO it's not in the same league, particularly in terms of ease of use.

I've had the 3310 for 2-3 years and it has done everything I wanted it to do, except the newer car/truck stereo's won't allow it to connect. Probably because the bluetooth is version 2.1. Therefore I have been considering the Nokia 225 as it has version 5.0 of Bluetooth. I listen to a lot of podcasts using the microSD card slot and use my sim also in a wireless usb dongle, so the difficulty of getting the sim in and out and the microSD card looks like a serious drawback that would override the benefits of Bluetooth 5.0. That's a real bummer. I thought I was onto a winner with the 225. Thanks for the review

Have one on the way. Going try a month “reverted” back 15-20 years with most tech including phone, tablet , and limiting streaming tv(as over the air tv isn’t as good as it used to be). Also going back a bit on other non tech stuff. This phone should be good for that. I wouldn’t mind finding something in the future that would be like this but maybe support streaming music like Spotify and maybe a gps navigation, goodish camera, email worth using. But that kind of defeats the point a bit. Mainly want to get away from KZbin and internet. That can wait until I get to the computer at home. Live the moment.

..it's good for downloading mp3 tunes as it has 4 g..one can't make sms with many letters as with 3310..and it´s not possible to close one of the sims while being on line..the opera mini has quite small text as well..still it´s my favourite phone among the nokia key phones..with the models 3310 and 5310 i get a strange feeling at the side of my head when i make a call - radiation ?

I've got a Nokia 6700 Classic, which is like the daddy of this phone, and I've had it since 2009. Love it as it's all I need and to not be plagued by alerts/notifications but it's getting old and the battery is probably gonna keel over in a year or two, so need another similar phone and this is the closest thing to it. I just needed to check it's specs and see if it suits me. *IT SURE AS HELL DOES!* 😂 but not so keen on the plastic case as the 6700 Classic had a metal case and was nice and heavy.

Great review, sad that I just got the phone before watching it, maybe then I would’ve had second thoughts about buying the phone. But despite the problems, I still think that the Nokia 225 is a good phone for people who have never had a phone before; it’s their first step to getting a way better phone like potentially an iPhone which they will be content about because of all the high quality features.

@@yfdz6959ok basically we have 3G right. And we have 4g. 4g and LTE are interchangeable rmbr that. VoLTE means that the voice is transmitted over the faster 4g network instead of the older and slower 3G network. Hence you have better call quality and less dropped calls.

I wish you had shown clearly how to insert the dual sim cards and the SD card. You spent too long on the games. I just want a simple phone for texts and calls and a great battery life. So far, I broke my finger nail opening it before inserting the battery to charge it. Bur, in an age where everyone makes their own video clips Nokia can't manage to provide one showing how to start up, especially inserting the SD and Sim cards.

The 225 timestamps all incoming texts as having come in hours earlier, making it nearly impossible to follow the conversation. How did Nokia mess up such a basic, fundamental feature? Also, the date is shown numerically as day/month/year, and in the U.S., we list it as month/day/year. There's no option to change this. When texting, there's no option to capitalize just one letter mid-sentence, which is a pain.

Interesting - I've got to be honest here and say that date format isn't something I usually think about, but given that HMD Global is Finnish, it's not surprising they use DD/MM/YY format.

@@AlexKidman: to not give American users the option to change the date format seems pretty foolish from a marketing perspective. The Japanese don't seem to have a problem marketing to Americans. Also, the 225 categorizing all contacts by last name and not first name is dumb as well. This isn't a phone book. When I'm looking for someone in my contacts, I'm thinking of their first name, not last name.

As summarised here, it's indeed cheap and that's all. It's also a far cry from its antecedents, notably the Nokia 100 line, which was actually cheaper than the 225. It's far more awkard to use and barely customisable (you can't disable that #*@&ing jingle on powerup), has shorter battery life, is slightly larger, and the GUI is completely inconsistent with the earlier ones. On top of that, the camera, keys and display are absolute shite. Rubbish design all the way... Can anyone recommend similar (better) offerings from Samsung?

Totally agree with your thoughts on the 225. Love Samsung basic phones, but the only one they have now is sold exclusively by Verizon, and it's heavy military grade, which is not what I want.

didnt watch your video because it has a stupid title and the presentation is like something from 10 years ago when people made random videos with their webcams in their parents basement. this guy should watch other videos to learn lessons. There are plenty of "cheap phones" on the market but people want to know what is different about this one. Battery life, call reception, voice calls, start up time, buttons, navigation. he said he doesnt know why someone would want a dual sim phone. Well maybe if he left his house and had friends he might know more. Like people wanting 2 numbers, work/home, they travel alot and need a 2nd foreign sim, or they want to be able to keep one in always when they have to switch sims alot.
