Pair of commercials for Nokia's newest phone the 3810, boasting a larger screen for reading longer messages (SMS). Other than that, it's a standard bar phone with nothing much in features. It remains a popular treasure among collectors, fetching high prices in the market.
The arrival of phones such as this in the late 90s, coupled with the Asian Financial Crisis, spelled doom for pager services, leading to their untimely exit a few years later.

Nokia’s Golden Days was just about to begin then. Paborito ng mga snatchers because they were the easiest to resell due to high demand. There was even a sad incident along Recto-Divisoria area where a poor woman was stabbed after her phone was snatched as she was riding a jeepney. Apparently the snatcher got irked when he saw that the phone he snatched was not a Nokia, so he ran after the jeepney, went in, and stabbed the cellphone’s owner.

The era where 1G Network was about to phase out. Since 2016, HMD Global began reviving & redesigning most of old Nokia phones.

I loved their Windows Phone era. I still think it's the best OS, just lacked a serviceable app ecosystem.

Though it appears that the Nokia revival petered out and as such HMD decided to gradually phase out their use of the Nokia brand recently.

@@undustfixation It was a chicken-or-egg situation, unfortunately. No one wanted to make apps for it as nobody cared, and nobody cared because no one made apps for it. Not to mention that Android's open-source (or at least the AOSP core of it) nature meant it's free real estate for everyone to adopt it unlike Windows which you have to licence it from. Windows Mobile was good, but on a business standpoint, adopting it would amount to suicide as it only had a scant market share compared to iOS and Android.

Yeah, I stopped using it around 2014 because they couldn't put up a decent Reddit, IG or Line app. But the implementation of FB, Twitter, and reading emails and texts were the best. Every once in a while I get tempted to ditch my phone and roll back, lmao.

Ooh Nokia 3810 very nice but perhaps the most popular Nokia phones in the Philippines and Indonesia was Nokia 3310 and Nokia 3210 😊😊

Before 3210 and 3310, the 5110 was Nokia’s bestseller because it was their most affordable handset, making it popular amongst students and young professionals. It also pioneered the easily-swappable cases that clicked with the younger users.

There was meme behind cellphone. When someone was selling you stolen phone and told you “GSM ito”, when the buyer asked what the abbreviation stands for the seller would say GSM - Galing Sa Magnanakaw.
