It is 5MP because of the indoor light. The front 20MP sensor has quad-pixel array and delivers 5MP photos in low light with 2.0 microns pixel size and up to 20MP in favourable conditions with 0.8 pixel size. In the camera settings the front camera is at 20MP by default.

I feel like it's 5mp in the daylight too .. I took pics through other apps and checked resolution of images online they all come out to be 5mp .. except for the camera app pre-installed within the device for which it is 20mp

Both are kinda the same phone just like Honor 8X and Mate 20 lite with little to no difference in hardware. I see that the Honor 10 lite has better cameras, so go for that.

The performance in *Chinese* variant *Nokia X7* and *global variant* *Nokia 8.1* is different. Lots of accessibilities are banned in China. Photography and overall RAM management is also better in 8.1 than its chinese variant.

I doubt that. Chinese market is way more competitive than the Global one. Having tested global versions of X5 and X6 here as 5.1 and 6.1 I can assure you there are no hardware differences at all. Difference is that Global versions cost $100 more due to Android One regular security patches. In fact, Android One is far more barren in features and settings than the Stock Android in the Chinese variants.

Gearbest and YOU have Nokia X7 wich is different from Nokia 8.1 because of Android ONE program and some 4G bands .... Nokia X7 is chinese version and Nokia 8.1 is Global version.
