symbian was what inspired android and ios alike. It's one of the first operating systems. It's one of the most advanced os system. i love symbian, it's a shame it's discontinued. all samsung does nowadays is build cheaply made products and copy the style and concept of every other company. apple built beautiful hardware which simple and easy to use. motorola used powerful and rugged hardware and nokia had an excellent camera.

Yes most of your points were true then but nowdays nokia is just here and there same with motorola both being dead for a while. And nokia was the first to build premium hardware while phones were made of cheap plastic

I used to have Symbian devices and used them all the time. They're just sort of the epitome of simplicity and independence in a sort of Libertarian way. Although I'm pretty much died in the wool iOS these days, I couldn't help picking up one of these when I found it at a good price. I'll probably just play with it a couple of days and sell it...but it's *neat* in a very Nokia way. Looking forward to it.

I had the E7 back in 2011, in silver. Overall a great phone. Only cons: -Camera cannot take pictures of documents. -Symbian was extremely laggy when the phone was under heavy usage.

Was an avid fan of Nokia always. Owned the E90 communicator and later this E7 before having to move over to iPhone. Nokia phones were always ahead of its time, except when it really mattered when the world was really getting geared for smartphones at large.

In 2020 I still wish I owned this phone. If there's a modern day's smartphone OS in this design, and of course from Nokia (even from HMD), I wouldn't hesitate!

You're correct. It's not comparable at all with an Android phone. It's far better. The E7 isn't a hunk of plastic with a screen on the front and some ARM hardware crammed inside. It doesn't have access to the Android app stores, so it never sold in the USA, but from the standpoint of build quality and functionality, it's superior to any Android.

nokia and android would make nokia climb back to top. nokia+windows will bring no change at all. people want an OS that is featureful, customizable and functional. not an OS that nobody uses.

@07liberian nokia need android. they are falling fast from the top. they used to be ahead by a mile from apple, rim, samsung, motorola etc. but now the gap is not that big anymore. they need something to push them back from what nokia was before. and also, they used to be the largest smartphone manufacturer but now, they've fallen behind other cellphone manufacturers in terms of smartphone market share
